An Old Porch In Hickory

Hickory, NC

Think of all the stories that have been told on this porch!

Today I am thankful for the chance to spend the weekend with these 2...Nick will be out of town so it will just be us (Ashlyn and Christian will be in and out doing their own thing as usual). We get a whole weekend to be irresponsible...stay up later than we should, eat junk and watch movies together :) (although I do have a few things on my own list that I want to get done)...I always enjoy these little special chunks of time! My Front Porch

I love a big front porch! My rainbow view from yesterday was off my back deck, but I really do enjoy my porch. Nick hung his flags as soon as we moved in, then he felt at home. Those rocking chairs were a gift from my mom for my front porch at our Georgia house. Nick talks about replacing them because they are breaking in places but I just can't. We have great neighbors here. The whole neighborhood is friendly. The lady on one side told me on our second day that she meant to bring over a pan of lasagna on our first night but didn't get a chance...it's the thought that counts anyway...then across the street is an elderly couple who brought over some homemade English muffin bread and told me how their son married the girl who lived in our house! What a great story...sadly they are moving away already (not because of us lol) but they are downsizing as it is just them now. The other day a golf cart full of people drove by and yelled "hi new neighbors" at us...it really is probably the friendliest neighborhood we've ever lived in! I hope we have many happy years here :)

More Summer

Fincastle

I remember this day. Christian had baseball practice at Breckinridge Elementary School in Fincastle. It was early evening, warm...just really pretty. I love baseball season weather. I brought my camera and walked around the track taking pictures as his team practiced.

Right now as I get this post ready (Monday night) it is 5 degrees with the windchill -17! They cancelled all the schools in the whole Roanoke area early in the day on Monday, for Tuesday. Ozzy is scratching at the door to go outside one more time before bed. Oh, I guess I'll see what -17 feels like!
