A Few Murals & The Streets Of Zihua

One afternoon we took a taxi from our hotel in Ixtapa to Zihuatanejo:
Actually we rented a car and Nick did a lot of driving around Ixapa/Zihua but sometimes we just didn't want to deal with finding a parking spot in Zihua so we'd take a taxi. Very easy to get one from our hotel and very cheap. Plus driving in Mexico is very daunting...there aren't any actual marked lanes and people just cut in and out of traffic like crazy people! Needless to say I did NOT drive!

Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 60

Harrisonburg

Since Tuesday was voting day, how 'bout some Willy Nilly flag quotes:

1) “The stars and stripes were fluttering bright against the rain, clear blue overhead, and their minds were saying the words before their ears heard them.”
― Laura Ingalls Wilder, Little House on the Prairie

2) “The American flag doesn't give her glory on a peaceful, calm day. It's when the winds pick up and become boisterous, do we see her strength. When she unfolds her hand, and shows her frayed fingers, where we see the stretch of red-blood lines of man that fought for this land. The purity of white stripes that strips our sins, and the stars of Abraham's covenant, broad in a midnight blue sky. The rights our forefathers established. As it waves high in the currents of freedom, where the Torch of Liberty shines over the sea, does she give meaning to unity. When we strive as one nation, or when it drops half-mast, to a fallen soldier.”
― Anthony Liccione

3) “Good women are no fun... The only good woman I can recall in history was Betsy Ross. And all she ever made was a flag.”
― Mae West

4) “Summertime, oh, summertime, pattern of life indelible, the fade-proof lake, the woods unshatterable, the pasture with the sweetfern and the juniper forever and ever . . . the cottages with their innocent and tranquil design, their tiny docks with the flagpole and the American flag floating against the white clouds in the blue sky, the little paths over the roots of the trees leading from camp to camp. This was the American family at play, escaping the city heat.”
― E.B. White

5) “Yonder are the Hessians. They were bought for seven pounds and tenpence a man. Are you worth more? Prove it. Tonight the American flag floats from yonder hill or Molly Stark sleeps a widow!”
― John Stark

Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 16 - On Read Mountain Rd

Read Mountain Road, Cloverdale

There used to be a real pretty old house that sat on this piece of property. It was big and kind of in the same state of disrepair as this building. I always loved it though and would admire it when I drove by. I always meant to stop and take a picture. Then one day, about a year ago, I noticed activity going on around the old house and thought "yay, someone is going to fix her up"...then she was torn down...so, a couple of days ago while driving past, I made myself pull over and get a picture of this place and the barn, before they are both gone.

Now it's Willy Nilly time:

1) Did you know that someone is rebuilding the Gone With The Wind house? Yup, it's true...read about it HERE

2) Do you have a hard to shop for person on your Christmas list? I'm sure you can find something for them in the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book ...that Vanity Fair Academy Awards Experience would be a wonderful gift, just putting that out there ;)

3) I love street portraits...here are some great ones Meet Harlem's Official Street Photographer

4) Did you hear about the Canadian teen that was bullied? Read about the positive way she handled it Right Here

5) Some of you might know that our Ozzy is a Rottweiler. We've owned the Rottie breed for about 25 years now. I started this blog when we had Crockett and you have probably already seen photos of Ozzy on here, or been on his blog! Anyways, Rottweilers are such a terrific breed, very loyal, very gentle, and very smart! There's a documentary that was recently made about this amazing breed and I can't wait to see it. I wanted to share the trailer with you :)

Our Ozzy sleeps in the boys room. He takes turns from Braden's bed to Dalton's bed and is very protective of his brothers!

Well that's my 5 for the week and now it's your turn! Post 5 random "willy nilly" things and link back to me. Visit other Willy Nilly participants and have fun! Have a great weekend too!!

Random 5 Friday - Photobomb

Kroger parking lot, Daleville.

Last weekend the boys and I were waiting in the car at Kroger while Nick ran in to the bank. The boys noticed these boys shoes and were saying that they liked them. Since I had my camera I zoomed in to get a better look when low and behold, PHOTOBOMB ;)

Now some randoms:

1) Have you seen the new Chevy commercial with the dog? You're going to need a tissue for sure:

2) Today is a snow day. We woke up with a very light dusting, but the roads are icy.

3) I made the most delicious bbq chicken sandwiches with cilantro slaw the other night. I boiled my chicken breasts, then chopped and shredded and mixed with Duke's BBQ sauce (my favorite bottled sauce) but the amazing part was the slaw from Pioneer Woman. You can get the recipe HERE

4) The boys played their last basketball game on Monday evening. We lost so our season is now over. We have our banquet on Monday at Cici's. Now we are ready to start baseball!

5) Daylight savings starts this Sunday. I love longer days! And the countdown to spring? 13 Days, 3 Hours, 11 Minutes, 33 Seconds, as I type!

Visit Nancy at a Rural Journal for more randoms!

Have a great weekend :)

Gosh dang, another City Daily Photo Theme Day. We are already into the 3rd month of the year, wow! So for those of you new to this, each month participants of City Daily Photo vote on a theme and this month the winner was "People on the Street"...sooooo, I present to you, my entry! This was back in August, downtown Roanoke, the Farmer's Market. We had been to the Bacon Fest. It was HOT out that day...that's what I remember most. Hot days and bacon just don't mix! To see more people on the street, or street walkers ;) visit City Daily Photo!

I want to take a second to thank you guys for your concerns about my post yesterday. I wanted to share it so that if someone stumbled across it and happened to be going through something similar, I just wanted to be able to help them out and give them the courage to call the dr! I promise now that I've already been to see my Dr. Jason, I will NOT hesistate a second to call him if I ever see anything peculiar on my skin again! I have the best bloggie friends for being concerned! Thanks again! :)
