Botetourt County

It happened! We got snow! It started in the middle of the night sometime Friday and didn't stop till about noon Saturday...I guess we ended up with about 5 inches but it has been so cold that a lot of roads are really icy so we ended up with a snow day today!
Pictures 1 & 2 are looking up and down my street
Picture 3 is Riley checking out our driveway
Picture 4 is Ozzy and Riley playing...they sure do love the snow!

Sorry I'm late for Willy Nilly today...lack of sleep from the day before and first day back at school = wiped out and fell asleep! Here we go:

1) Like I said we went back to school yesterday...our Christmas break is over...I enjoyed it...over too quick...as always...

2) On Tuesday the boys and I went and saw Passengers in 3D...it was good...we all liked it...

3) On Wednesday I took Ashlyn out shopping to get her some things for her Dallas trip...we had lunch and shopped...it was nice spending the day with just her...something we don't get to do too often anymore!

4) We are supposed to get some snow tonight...maybe a couple of inches...doesn't seem like the weathermen really know and have been all over the board with the forecast...

5) Nick got me an Ancestry DNA test for Christmas...I am really excited to get my results back...If you have never noticed before I have a genealogy blog HERE ...I need to get back in it...it has been a while!

Well that is my 5 this week and I hope you will join in too! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others! Have a great weekend!

Norfolk Ave . Wholesale Row . Roanoke

Today I am thankful for coffee...strong coffee! It's about 5:30 in the morning and I just returned a little bit ago from dropping Ashlyn off at the airport. She is travelling with a friend to Frisco, Texas to see her JMU Dukes battle it out in the National Championship game! The game is Saturday so the girls will have a little time for sightseeing around Dallas....Now, more coffee!

Wholesale Row

127 Norfolk Ave . Roanoke

Built in 1902 by Moir and Brindel, grocers...

This area is known as the Roanoke Warehouse Historic District or Wholesale Row...it consists of 5 buildings built between 1889 and 1902 wholesale food storage.

I have shown you a couple of buildings HERE and HERE

I'm going to have to gather what info I have found on the area and go back and snap a pic of each building as I learn about their history...remind me haha

A lot of interesting reading on the buildings/area HERE and have you ever used Emporis ? Handy when you have the address of a building and need a little more info!

CDP Theme Day - Photo of the Year

This is one of my favorite photos! We were visiting Bennett Place in Raleigh and I was taking a picture of the little cabin when I was suddenly photo bombed by Dalton...I have tons of these photo bombs in my archives as the boys are always doing this to me! They crack me up!
It's 11:15 pm as I get this post ready...almost 2017, can you believe it?!
I wish you all a healthy and happy New Year!
