At The Barn

Am I the only one who loves the way a barn smells? The scents from the horses, hay, grain, leather, all mixed together...mmmm :)

Happy New Years Eve! What are your plans for the evening? We are just staying in, probably do some fireworks, I'll make a bunch of munchies and watch all the New Years festivities on tv. 2009 here we come!

  3. Hmmm... barn smells. Well, I like the smell of hay. :) Very nice homey picture.
For New Year's, if we are not travelling, I make a spagetti dinner & we just hang out. Sometimes friends or family come to dinner, & sometimes not.
Wish you a lovely evening. Do the little ones make it to midnight?

  5. I can't even say. Have never been inside a barn. Not something we see everyday in Metro Manila ;D

Happy New Year, Tanya! Wishing you a peaceful and prosperous 2009.

  9. I love the look of barns, totally enjoy photographing them and the old barn wood. They are becoming more and more difficult to find as they age and collapse or have their wood re-purposed by builders. Would be very cool to live in an old barn that has been re-done....

It's WINDY today! Yikes... the house is rocking and rolling.

Have a wonderful New Year... we will be home as well.

Wish you and your family a Happy New Year!

  11. Yes I do love old barns. We had a birthday party for my grandson at a horse ranch one year and part of it was held in the barn letting the kids feed the horses and watch the barn cats doing tricks. The kids loved it. I'm doing the same thing you are for New Year's eve only without fireworks. Happy New Year Tanya!

  14. I like the smell of a barn for a limited amount of time -- not on a hot summer's day, though! I really like the look of this barn, and the light you caught on the grass.

It is extrememly windy here today, too. I'm afraid we'll lose the other half of the tree that split in last February's wind storm. (Don't want to start 2009 that way.) Happy New Year to you!

  16. Yes Stacy, sad thing though about our barn. The previous owners sold 1.5 acres to Kroger, who wants to build their drive thru pharmacy there, right where the barn is. And the way they sold it, they sold the land to Kroger, but the barn is ours. We could have it moved for a nice sum of money, but we'll pass. It isn't in a very convenient place for us really, you have to kind of climb up a hill to get to it, but I love it just the same. I really hope they forget what they wanted the land for, lol. I do want to take parts of the barn to keep though. Maybe we can eventually build one, and use the old barn doors for the new one. This barn isn't the original though, we rebuilt years later as the original burnt down. So at least it's not very old, that would be a shame.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and Happy New Year!

KM, you always crack me up ;)

  22. Happy New Year to you! We're staying in, too. We stayed out far too late last night for a neighborhood party. Tonight, I'll make crab-stuffed shrimp. I only make it once a year - a New Year's Eve tradition.

  26. Do you have horses? I adore the smell of a barn. I think my horse must have thought I was crazy today--I pulled his face close, "Hold on, let me smell," and took a whiff of his sweet horse breath.
