Sign’s 2 - Local Politics

 Dinwiddie . VA

I don’t think this person likes Commonwealth Attorney Baskerville...I’m not familiar with any of this, we were just driving through!

Tuesday’s Treasures - Old Nansemond County Courthouse

524 North Main Street . Suffolk . VA

A couple of weeks ago Nick and I took a little trip to the Great Dismal Swamp. Our hotel was near this old courthouse which is now the visitor’s center. We didn’t get a chance to tour it this time but I’d definitely love to go back and see it...snapped this pic while stopped at a light!

From Virginia.Org:

“(1755) The original structure was completely burned by the British in 1779, but was rebuilt shortly after the Revolutionary War. During the Civil War, the courthouse served as part of the headquarters for Major General Peck of the Union Army. In 1837, the courthouse burned again during the "Great Fire" and was rebuilt and used until 1998. The Courthouse has undergone an extensive renovation and has been repurposed as the Suffolk Visitor Center and Tourism office. This Suffolk landmark is also home to the Great Dismal Swamp Gallery.”

Monday Murals - The Witt Stop

 The Witt Stop . Buchanan

Recently driving through Buchanan we noticed this new mural/business. The mural is pretty cool, depicting the area.  If you zoom in you can even find this location on the mural! It’s like a mural inside of a mural!

SkyWatch Friday - Falling Creek Park

Falling Creek Park . Bedford . Va

Last week Nick and I picked up some lunch and took it over to this park and have a picnic. This is a great park with miles and miles of trails but what I loved most of all was this old barn.  I tried and tried to find info on it but really only found that it is known as the “1936 Red Barn” or the “County Farm Barn”.

“According to a Virginia DHR architectural survey form, the red barn is a local landmark in the area and was constructed at a cost of $5,000. It was considered a modern, “model” structure. On the property, livestock was raised, sold and boarded from many area family farms, cereal grains sold and significant purchases made from local businesses.”

I did find some neat links though!

Thankful Thursday - Family

 Mother’s Day 2021

Hi!! Boy have I missed blogging! Got kind of out of the groove when I was having computer issues which I’m still experiencing with memory issues. I got a storage drive thing but haven’t moved everything over and I haven’t even been using my good camera at all in quite a while. I did get a new iPhone 12 for Mother’s Day so I’ve been taking lots of pictures with this! Blogging from my phone instead of the computer is a bit tricky for me still...was so used to my desktop! Hopefully I’ll catch on quickly!

So on this Thankful Thursday I am thankful for my sweet family and the times that we are all able to gather together!

I am looking forward to reconnecting with my blogging family too!!

Hope you are all doing well!!
