Last month I started to show you some pics from the Great Dismal Swamp on the Virginia side…the next day we went to the North Carolina side and visited the State Park…
Once we cross the bridge here we can head over to the visitors center or jump on a trail…we chose the trail…
Look at the bark on that tree! It’s so shaggy!
Ferns!! Lots of ferns!!
Cute little turtle!

...what a name for a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteThe first pictureis gorgeous, but it sure changes soon. Yes, the tree bark is strange!
ReplyDeleteAmazing detail when your black and white is enlarged!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI think I have visited the Virginia side of the Dismal Swamp. I like seeing the Cypress knees and the cute turtle.
The reflections on the first photo are beautiful. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend.
What a fabulous place , and very beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteFunny name for a swamp. It's actually quite beautiful looking!
ReplyDeleteThe swamp is misnamed. It is a lovely wetland, and your photos clearly show that.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, what a nice place to walk! Love the turtle! :)
ReplyDeleteSwamps have a bad reputation but they make wonderful places for wild creatures to live and thrive -- and their uninviting aspect (to people, that is) keep them reserved for the wild things. Not to mention helping keep air and water clean. Don't drain the swamp!

What a beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature. Such a funny name though.
ReplyDeleteA fascinating place.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've been to the North Carolina side. Maybe I should go.
ReplyDeleteThe Great Dismal Swamp looks pretty good in your first shot Tanya, not dismal at all 😉. I often wonder how places get their names
ReplyDeleteNice shots! Great reflection in the top photo.
ReplyDeleteGreat b&w
