Race Day
A peek at the vendors
The infield, which is small! We used to camp in the infield at the Atlanta Speedway. This track is small, I think it's a half mile and Atlanta's is a mile or a mile and a half? Something like that anyway.
Getting ready to go!
We were up by 6:00 a.m. yesterday and out the door by 7 to avoid traffic. There are alot of houses right up close to the track that will let you park in their yards for $20 and up! We parked in one of the yards with some people my husband works with. We had a few hours to wait so we cooked breakfast then went in and saw the vendors. Came back to our vehicles and grilled some hamburgers then went in to watch the race. The weather was freezing first thing in the morning but warmed up to the mid 60's with not a cloud in the sky and turned out to be perfect weather for watching the race.
I'll post a few more pictures tomorrow :)
Neat pics, I like the first one with the vendor trucks. I only was able to catch parts of the race yesterday. I think I like the larger tracks better.
ReplyDeleteI like the close up look at the speedway. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be freezing here, after today, for a couple of days.
I "love" race, but in Europe, it's Formula 1, and not nascar... But i look at on the TV...
ReplyDeleteMy husband would love to have been here. He is a big race fan. I went to the Atlanta Speedway once for a counryfest back in the day before they started holding them in Nashville. It is a big place
ReplyDeleteThe glinting cars are excellent!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about LA traffic. Fortunetly, my commute to work is against traffic (I work in Long Beach) and on Saturday it was flowing pretty good.
Coool! On your mark... get set... blog!
ReplyDeletej'aime bien regarder sur le câble français, les courses de voiture américaine, cela devait être un superbe spectacle
ReplyDeleteI like to watch on cable French, American car racing, this would be a superb spectacle

ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm there, too! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteNice, seems to be a great event.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Martinsville a couple of times. Not my cup of tea but a nice change and distraction from the regular rigors of life. I hope you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm sure you all had a good time.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice quiet evening.
I've never been to a car race..
ReplyDeleteYou must have had fun taking pictures
The only races I've seen are sportscar gymkhanas, and that was a long time ago. It was a different experience seeing your photos. The vendors must do a brisk business.
ReplyDeleteWhile you are showing NASCAR, "Louis" is showing Fleet Week! ;-)
ReplyDelete(BTW - "Louis" is a NASCAR fan...)
I can hear the engines! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks exciting!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a car race. Did you inhale a lot of fumes?
ReplyDeleteWow... great shot of NASCAR race...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see one LIVE...
