A couple of weeks ago we got some visitors and they've stayed. These cute little ducks! First it started with 4 and now we have about 10 in our pond. Nick went over to Southern States and picked up some duck food for the little fellas. Now when they see Nick coming with his red cup in hand, they all come swimming up. There is one that is a little hoggy about the food and scares the others away. Relax guy, there's plenty to go around :)
I like your ducks! We have "feral" Pekin ducks in Aurora, they used to sleep under a lamp-post and eat the insects that were attracted to the light. they keep the snails in check a bit too, but also eat veggie seedlings. Toss-up whether the seedlings are lost to snails, ducks, or dune mole-rats.

Beautiful photo! I think you'll have some little Donalds next spring, lovely photos to come! When I was a child, my grand-mother who had a small farm, was used to give me a little duck and in a few days, he was following me everywhere, a very good memory.
ReplyDeleteAlice, my brother had a pet duck too when he was little. I wasn't born yet but have heard stories of this little duck and what a great pet he was :)

How lovely to have ducks visit your home. Where I work we had ducks with alot of little ducklings visited our pond recently. It was just so lovely to see them.
