I have been told that the old orginal
Rte 220 ran right here, through our property. You can still kind of see the definition of an old, used road. I like to walk along it and wonder about the people who travelled past my house.
I want to find out more about the old road, so a trip to the
Botetourt Historical Society is in my near future.
I did visit the historical society a month or so ago to get information on our house and its inhabitants of the past. I'm looking forward to another visit :)
Hello Tanya !
ReplyDeleteVery surprizing this photo.... Where is the 220 road ???
Lovely scenery. Hope you find out what was going on around there.
ReplyDeleteWeb, the 220 now runs from North Carolina to Pennsylvania. Not sure where it went to when it was just a wagon trail through my yard :)
ReplyDeleteThanks JM!
Wow, that is really cool. Share the history when you find out more!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture too. :)
It must be wonderful to live in a house with so much history. I'll enjoy hearing about it when you have more to share.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what other new things you will find out about your new home? How exciting, to be learning more and more history about 'ye old homestead!'
ReplyDeleteIt would have been a shame to see a highway right there!!
ReplyDeleteYou will tell us what you find during your research?..
Enjoy your day.
