Well it happened. One day this week, totally uninvited and unannounced, Mr. and Mrs. Canadian Goose showed up at the pond. Now a couple months ago, the ducks moved into the pond and have stayed. They've behaved and we've been enjoying their company. The thing about the geese is that they can be mean and messy. I like seeing them out there but if they start acting up, I'm going to have to give them their eviction notice :)
They look beautiful! Hope you will enjoy their presence as long as they stay there :-)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter had to move her wedding to a different location because of an impossible accumulation of goose poop at the original venue. How would you go about evicting them, Tanya?
ReplyDeleteCute. I have a visitor during the night that likes to digg up my lawn a little to find something to eat. Unwelcome.
ReplyDeleteLOL Brat, not sure, I guess have my boys chase them away, they can be scary ;)
ReplyDeleteWe had a flock of about 20 on the pond by us last week. They stayed about 4 days and then left. Some pretty cool looking ducks came in with them but they are still there.
ReplyDeleteCooked goose?
ReplyDeleteWell, good luck on that eviction notice idea :)
ReplyDeletesend on over to my backyard if you tire of them...don't have a pond but i do have some water for them :)

They were the culprits who brought down that plane in the Hudson River weren't they? Well not your particular geese, but Canadian geese hanging around the airport! I'm with you. I wouldn't be able to tolerate them if they started getting mean.
ReplyDeleteGeese can be a real pain in the patootie! They poop like nobody's business and can, as you said, be nasty. What's your eviction plan?
ReplyDeleteIf your eviction notice works please share it with the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteWell so far I am happy to report that they are being lovely little guests. I do hope they stay and don't chase after us because I do like looking out my window at them :)
ReplyDeleteBefore we bought our property here in Roanoke Hubby kept saying he wanted a few acres with a pond... I stood firm and said, "no pond". Not sure I would want all the critters they attract. Good luck with your new tenants!

We've really been enjoying the critters around the pond but the other day Nick was out there and noticed a kind of big animal with a rat like tail and we've decided it to be a muskrat. We've noticed the little burrows they've dug around the pond. Not sure what to do with them, if they are a big problem or if they are ok to stay.
ReplyDeleteThey make for nice photos, but they CAN be a pain in the rear!!! My parents have had problems w/ them around their pond in the past!
ReplyDeletePretty show:)
ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky you have a pond. We used to have a big one when we lived in Oklahoma and I miss it terribly.
ReplyDeleteI never had any problem with critters. As far as geese, if they get to be a problem, you can just keep sending your dog out there to chase them. Maybe they are resting on their way to somewhere.

We get Canadian geese here Tanya. I think they migrate from up your way each year. They can be bossy birds. - Dave
ReplyDeleteYou learn every day! I didn't know about badly bahaving geese! :-)
