SkyWatch Friday
Another sunset from the yard. You might recognize the "framing" since it's the only location of the yard that I can see the sun setting.
For some reason I can't get my camera to connect to my computer the last couple of days, grrrr.

Lunch Request
Last night around dinner time Dalton brought me a can of tuna and wanted me to make him a sandwich. I told him no since dinner was cooking. He got upset and said he really wanted a tuna sandwich since I haven't made one since 2008 (don't think that's correct but ok,lol). So this morning I noticed he wrote his lunch order on the chalk board in the kitchen along with Braden's request for a pb&j...guess I know what's for lunch today!

Praying Mantis
I spotted this little guy on the porch railing yesterday. It's a Praying Mantis. While I was looking at him, trying to get a good view from side to side, he'd turn his head and watch me, left to right!
This morning I took Braden and Dalton to pick up their football gear. They had their football drafts Wed evening and they are on the same team they were on last year. First practice is next Saturday. I think they are getting excited as they keep running around with their shoulder pads and helmets on,lol.
Have a great weekend!
Sorry my visits have been scarce, been hectic!

Front Porch Sittin'
Sitting on the front porch of Ikenberry's where the Farmer's Market is held. We looked around inside their great little shop. I've always been meaning to stop in but it seems when I'm driving past we are headed someplace we have to be. The boys each bought a stick of candy so we sat out on the front porch, listening to the music and people watching. A perfect way to spend a Saturday morning!

Botetourt Farmer's Market
On Saturday morning we took a short drive down the road to visit our local farmer's market. They had a lot of great items for sale and we saw a few friends. The Black Twigs were there playing Old Time Mountain Music. It was a fun event with great music and nice people. The Botetourt Farmer's Market runs every Saturday through October.

Pet Pride Sunday
The other day I found Bella catching a nap in the planter..
nice and comfy!
The pictures are a little blurry as I had to take them through the window so I wouldn't wake her up. She napped there for an hour or two!

Snake in the Grass
This is our resident Black Rat Snake . I've shown a photo of him once or twice before. Remember he was too close to the house and freaked me out so my neighbor picked him up and moved him into the woods. A couple of weeks later, he was spotted again, same location. Then yesterday afternoon we found him cruising around the front yard. Since I know to look for him, and he's basically harmless and does some good, (yes I've heard some snakes are capable of doing good, this one for instance by keeping the rodent population down), and it seems he thinks our casa is his casa so he's welcome to stay, as long as he doesn't sneak up on me,lol...Look though at how curly he looks. I've never noticed a snake looking so curly but then when I read the link it says that when startled they will freeze and wrinkle themselves into a series of kinks. He must have been worried we were going to move him again, lol

SkyWatch Friday
It's fun to stay at the YMCA...the song that transcends time. All generations know this song! This was taken at our 4th of July festivities in Roanoke. The clouds moved in and we got a few sprinkles but then it cleared up nicely for the fireworks.

The Watermelon Eating Champion
While at the 4th of July event in Roanoke, they had a Watermelon Eating Contest for the kids. The first one to finish his watermelon has to hold his empty rind up in the air. That's my baby Dalton who won while Braden, sitting next to him, admires his handiwork. Although, I have to say, Braden had a bit of a handicap, 2 loose front teeth!

Pet Pride Sunday-Bella
Yesterday while sitting by the pool, Braden noticed this cute tree frog sitting on the fence. Someone had the bright idea to stick it on Bella and see if she'd notice, lol. (Bella is our new puppy. We got her a couple weeks ago and she is a Walker Coon Hound).
Bella isn't too sure why we are all pointing at her and laughing....
"Ohhhh, real funny, who put that on my back"? Bella suddenly realizes there's something green on her and it's moving. We quickly had to rescue the frog at this point. Don't worry, the frog was returned safe and sound to his spot on the fence!

Happy 4th of July and Happy Birthday Christian!
This is one of the many firework stands located around town where you can go buy your own fireworks. Usually we buy a few but didn't this time. We are going to sit by the pool all day and then head into Roanoke for The Roanoke Times Music for Americans celebration. Sounds fun!
It's also Christian's 12th Birthday today. My mom, brother, niece and cousin are coming over for some cake later and we'll do a few presents. We got him some new arrows which he wanted, along with a quiver and a big foam target (no worries, he doesn't read this blog, lol). He loves practicing with his bow. In a week or so we'll have his official birthday party so that he can invite some friends over, swim, and maybe I'll even set the tent up for them to sleep outside!
Well, Happy Birthday America and Happy Birthday Christian!

Have a safe and fun 4th of July weekend! Tomorrow is also my older son's birthday. We'll just have some family over for cake and he'll have a real birthday party in a week or so (it's impossible to have a birthday party on the 4th of July!).

Boys Camp
Yesterday I had to drop Christian off at his buddy's house. It's his friend's Birthday and he had a sleep-over. They live on a little more than 50 acres and set up camp right in the middle so the boys can run wild and sleep outside. The dad was going to help them with a bonfire and they were going to grill hot dogs. I'm sure Christian will have some stories to tell when I pick him up in a few hours! Does that sound like the perfect party for a bunch of boys or what?!

July Theme Day-Empty
Another month, another Theme Day. It seems the month just flies by! This month's theme is "Empty". I like to sit in this chair and read, especially in the late afternoon. My rocking chair won't be empty for long!
