Honest Abe

IN THIS TEMPLE
AS IN THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE
FOR WHOM HE SAVED THE UNION
THE MEMORY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN
IS ENSHRINED FOREVER

The Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC

Sculpted in 1920 by Daniel Chester French. The statue stands 19 feet 9 inches (6 m) tall and 19 feet (6 m) wide, and was carved from 28 blocks of white Georgia marble by the Piccirilli Brothers studio of Bronx, New York.

  1. The Lincoln Memorial is a favorite. I especially like it at sunrise, when the crowds have not arrived and delicate shafts of light peek through the columns.

  2. Really makes you feel small when you walk up those steps and see how huge his statue is. Love it!

  4. That one of my favorite statues/figure in the world. Love the photo. The last time I was there, it was so crowded that I could not get a good photo of Mr. Lincoln.
