SkyWatch Friday
Leaving Greenfield as the storm is coming in (continuation from yesterday's post). We had walked over to the cemetery and that's when the winds started picking up along with some thunder and lightning so we knew we had to call it a day and head back to our vehicle. We had to make one quick stop at Food Lion before getting home and by the time we reached the house it was "a real toad strangler" (ok, I've only recently heard this phrase and have been wanting to use it, but really, it was a toad strangler!). We pulled into our driveway and yelled "every man for himself" and all grabbed a grocery bag and ran for the front door. We were soaked to the bone, but it was all good, we really needed some rain!

Have a great weekend :)
don't ya just love it right before a storm when the sky gets all dark like that & the thunder starts up... the air is electrified! also when the sky gets dark like that in the background of all the green... the green really stands out & it's almost as if it glows! =)
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend
I don't mind this kind of weather if there would just be no lightning!
ReplyDeleteI really like picture of the approaching storm. I wish we would get rain that would soak us to the skin. I also like that 'toad strangler' phrase. Do you mind if I use it?
ReplyDeleteGrazie Tanya!
ReplyDeletehave a nice weekend
greetings from Tuscan Landscapes!

lol george, go right ahead!
ReplyDeleteA fine capture of the oncoming rain storm with pretty setting in contrast. I could imagine the flight from the car into the house wih groceries. I like your new phrase…a new one for me! :-)
ReplyDeleteCatches the mood perfectly!
ReplyDeleteSo simple and PRETTY!
ReplyDeleteI think I've heard that term before though like you I'm a SoCal girl. I guess when it rains in the east it can really come down.
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting piece of history in your earlier post. That is why West Virginia broke with the rest of the state during the Civil War, their interests were very different. It's is easy to forget how important geography is to cultural and economic development.
I like this photo. The clouds looks it's chasing you ^_^ Thanks for sharing and happy Friday!

This is a beautiful scene watching the storm come in. I am working from home today and have had several storms roll by. Every time it gets dark and starts to rain, I stop, go to the window and watch. I like that term toad strangler and may use it too.
ReplyDeleteRain is not a bad thing. A lot is needed across this country.
ReplyDeleteI like the sky just before the storm. We don't get to see that as much as we wanted to tho.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful picture and I like the grass and the trees in this picture more than the sky. I think the gloomy sky is giving more appeal to the landscape.

We had a real downpour this morning... toppled one of our small trees. We needed the rain too, so no complaining here either! :)
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like the smell of the earth after a good rain!
ReplyDeleteOh what a coincidence! The skies here is looking the same through my window. Storm clouds indication rain.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I've never heard the phrase "A Toad Strangler" that refers to rain. That's a new one for me. Up here in PA you might hear "Raining Pitch Forks & Claw Hammers." Means that it's pouring rain very hard. I've seen storm clouds like that before. In the Navy, it's called "Over All Hatches & Gun Covers" when foul weather is approaching.
ReplyDeleteA bit menacing but it makes for a great photo.
ReplyDeleteCalm before the storm,nice shot.
