Watery Wednesday




Sachs Covered Bridge was built in 1852 by David S. Stoner. Part of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia began it's retreat to Virginia by crossing this bridge after the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863.

Lots of paranormal activity has been reported here. Many believe this is due to its proximity to the battlefield. There is also a story of two Confederate Soldiers who were hanged here for desertion during the retreat from Gettysburg.

    Not having any of these covered bridges here in England, at least none that I have encountered they always remind me of the Eastwood movie. Most of all I know about the civil war comes from the cinema too. I watch a lot of films. Paul at Leeds in Yorkshire daily photo

    Intriguing covered bridge! I have a feeling that this bridge featured in a supernatural/sci-fi movie but can't remember the name!

    I've never heard of a ghost-ridden covered bridge! I take it you wouldn't want to cross it on foot in the dark of night.
