Barn Charm Tuesday

Paint Bank, Craig County, Va

Last night around 10 the worst of Hurricane Sandy hit. The winds got pretty scary at times. We ended up making beds down in the basement and sleeping down there for fear of a tree falling on the house. School is cancelled. The winds are still howling but not as strong as they were overnight. It is snowing, but it probably won't accumulate. I am waiting for the sun to come out so I can see if we lost any trees in the yard. Luckily we haven't lost power. I can't believe how much damage it caused NY and NJ. So sad.

  4. That is nestled in the fall foliage beautifully!
I like the placement of the flag but they need a new one. :)

Hope when dawn came you found things ok. It's snowing here pretty hard and sticking and our winds have died down.

  7. Last night was kind of hairy. woke up to lots of trees either already down or coming down across roads in the area and just more rain. No snow. Probably best, anyway, for all those who lost power.

  8. Hi Tanya, It's great to hear from you again... Hope you and your family/friends are all okay after that horrible storm... Did you get any snow? We thought we were going to get some-but so far, none. It's windy and cold here though.

Great barn picture... Love the Fall colors...

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  9. I hope all is well at your house and that you didn't lose any trees. The autumn color in your photo is beautiful. We didn't have as much color this year as we usually do here on the Plateau.

  13. Glad to hear you are okay. We were getting ready to go down into our basement but it turned out better than we had hoped. Lots of wind and rain. Lost electricity for a while and am now more worried about those up north. So strange to get a hurricane this time of the year.

  14. So far no power loss here either (thankfully) although the lights were flickering a lot last night, and schools are cancelled.

  16. I hope you continue to be safe during this storm. While out driving Friday on a major US highway that starts at the Texas/Mexico border and eventually winds up in Chicago and of course branches to East Coast cities I passed about 50 utility trucks heading north. I was proud of my fellow Texans who were on the way with men and equipment to help with power outages that were to come. Texas gets its fair share of hurricanes and others are always ready to help us so we must return the favor. Your picture of the barn is stunningly beautiful. Those red trees in the background are beautiful. Stay safe!
