Rural Thursday Blog Hop #38

Botetourt Panthers after their win to the Botetourt Wasps on Saturday, James River High School, Buchanan, Va

Last night the boys played their "last" game and won. We do have a rescheduled game to make-up on Monday. That one will be a rough one. So much so that coach has scheduled a practice on Sunday and we never practice on Sunday. So far our standings are third in the league with 7 wins, 2 losses. Hope we can make it 8 wins on Monday!

Poor Ozzy has something wrong with his ear. Woke me up in the middle of the night with his pacing and shaking his head. I tried to look into it but he wouldn't let me. Poor thing couldn't sit still for long though without pacing around, panting and shaking his head. I gave him a baby aspirin and he eventually was able to get some sleep. I'm hoping it was just some wax. This happened before about a year ago and he was actually whining every time he'd try to scratch his ear. I called the vet for an appointment but then by the next day, before we could get the appointment with the vet, he was just fine. Hoping that is the case this time.

Thank you for all the kind sentiments last week over my brother's death. We are coping alright...have some decisions we have to make quickly...will be relieved when all that is taken care of...

  14. We love small town / youth football!
We have four sons (and a half pint daughter who loves the sport as well.) Our oldest, twins, are incredibly passionate about football, and have totally turned me into a sports mom. :)
We've loved watching them grow - since they were just pee wees starting in 4th grade. At 14 they are now starting on the high school varsity this year. Unfortunately Friday night one broke his collar bone in half.. it's pretty ugly.
I think not being able to play the last two games of the season is hurting him much more than the injury, though.
Good luck at the game Monday!

  15. Congrats to your sons' team -- that's an impressive record!

We have to clean Buck's ears frequently. You might try some ear wash (I bet you can find a recipe online for homemade.) Basically you squirt it in their ear and they shake out the icky stuff. Good luck.
