Barn Charm Tuesday

This barn sits across the road from last week's entry on Catawba Road in Troutville. I wonder if this barn goes with that old house I showed you? Many times you will find a barn that got separated from its home when they paved the road. I always find that kind of sad, and a huge hassle for the home owner.

I did quite a bit of Christmas shopping online today....I'm getting there, slowly but surely...Have you done online shopping using ebates? A friend of mine just told me about it this week. I was able to get some things on the kid's Christmas list by going through ebates and should be getting a little check from them. It's pretty neat, especially if you are a big online shopper, which I probably do about 80% of my shopping online...so much easier!

Linking with Barn Charm...check it out!

  5. Looks like it might almost be hidden in the summer time

  6. Nice Tanya I see that here all the time barn on one side house on the other. Some farmers I know have to walk their cows across the highway to get them to the barn from pasture to milk then back again. I bet that is always fun. :) B

  13. Beautiful photo! I had never thought about roads separating barns from houses. I will have to pay better attention when I am out and about.

Thank you for ebates tip!! I do most of my shopping online.

  14. I also find some barns separated from the house. Just standing by the roads. You found such interesting and special barn. A red roof and nice old texture made this barn very charming!

And you took very beautiful picture of it! I love how it's hiding between bare trees.

Your advice for shopping online is great. I didn't know about ebates.

  15. Beautiful rustic barn, though a bit sad about the paved roads wreaking havoc. Thanks for the ebates advice, I also get almost all my shopping done online now!:)

  16. That looks like dormant poison ivy on that building but if you don't think about it, it looks good. Still shopping here, not spending much but shopping just the same.

  19. I think it's sad, too, when a house and barn are seperated. I do as much shopping in our home town as I can to help the local merchants. I think that is extremely important. BUT if there is something online that is not available here or is much cheaper, I buy online.

  20. I had to back track and find the house you referred to (loved it!) I'm sure this farm was divided by the road.

  23. It looks lonely and deserted but I really like how those trees (sycamores ?) with their white bark make a great background!
Don't you love online shopping? Order it, it comes to the door and your done - no crowds, no lines.... :)

  24. This little barn just has so much character, added to by the vegetation that's now actually growing through it, not only into it! I'm checking out ebates right now!

  27. Lovely rich tones in this photo, Tanya. And all those bare sycamores just add to the beauty. The thing I remember about that old house--seemed like a lot going on. Same here--think that's a smokehouse in the background?

Online shoppping spoils you--haven't been in the mall in months since don't do recreational shopping. UPS leaves a lot of "boxes with the smile" though. Glad you're getting there.
