Friday Fences & Random 5's

(click on photo to enlarge) Eagle Rock, Botetourt County

Friday Fences

1) I love Crepe Myrtles. The color in my photo is my favorite. When we lived in Georgia, our little town of Monroe held a Crepe Myrtle Festival every summer.

2) I took the photo above right down the road from the Blue Ridge Vineyard while we were there on Sunday.

3) I dislike when websites or blogs have music that auto plays when you visit. I was just reminded of that as I was getting the link for the vineyard and almost jumped out of my chair when the music blasted on.

4) Tomorrow is a Bacon Festival in Roanoke. We're going to go. It's a good month for festivals. Last weekend was Wing Fest and now Bacon Fest.

5) I'm sitting here enjoying my coffee, being the first one up. I have to get the boys up in about a half an hour. I need my quiet time before I jump into breakfast and lunch making!

Random 5 Friday

Have a great Labor Day weekend!

  2. At one point I had music on a website but after a bit I got rid of it. I agree. Not every one has the same taste. I am up early and often on the computer early in the morning. I like the silence and quiet sounds then and I don't like them disturbed with other noise.

  4. totally agree about 3 - not come across many recently but then I have the volume mute on by default only turning it on when I actually choose to - I used to post comments on blogs that did that and got quite a few - don't care responses.

  5. I have been trying to get a crepe myrtle to grow in my yard...on the second one now...so far so good! I don't like the music on blogs either. At one time a while back I did have music on mine..but took it off!

  9. Crepe Myrtle: I cut my wife's down, thought it was a weed bush, which it is if you can't eat anything on it. Anyway it came back up and seems to be more of them now.

  11. That's a lovely shot. The air looks so clear.

I enjoy crepe myrtles, too. I bet that festival in Monroe was nice. I hope you have fun at the Bacon Festival. I'm not a big bacon fan, but my husband is. Once he hears about it, he might want to go!

  20. I don't think crepe myrtle is hardy in New England. That would be our loss.

And I mute the sounds when I visit blogs for exactly that reason. Though, one blogger whom I visit has exceptionally good taste in music, so I sometime in mute on her blog to listen to what she has chosen. Just that one exception.

  21. I'd love to go to a Bacon Festival! It's one of my favorite foods and I love the smell of it frying. Yum, yum!

I agree with you about the music. I just keep my computer volume down when I'm reading blogs, so I won't be scared out of my wits! Haha!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  32. I especially love crepe myrtles, too! And I love the mountains in the background of your picture. I have a son in Blacksburg Va. The mountains will be gorgeous in the Fall. Glad to find your blog today.

  33. I like your crepe myrtles also. We had several at our former home. The starter tree was a gift from a friend of mine, he died now at age 99.

I am not sure if this is your newest post or not. Google Plus gives me fits and only a hint of where to look.
Thanks for dropping in on me, Jim
