ABC Wednesday - K is for Koi Pond

Up on the 6 level of Center in the Square is this Koi Pond. I showed you a picture of it HERE looking down from the 7th level.

Snow...so like I said yesterday it was snowing like crazy up until about 1 or later. We ended up with a couple of inches. The school never even called a delay. The roads were a mess. 2 kids from the high school crashed on their way in. 1 had slid off the road and I heard the other had flipped his truck. The bus drivers were saying how slick the roads were. I would not want to be the school superintendent right now.

Taking my letter K and linking it with ABC Wednesday

  2. That's a nice looking pond for the fish to enjoy, Re the school, I hope no one was seriously injured on the roads, seems crazy to expect people to endanger themselves in such a way.

  5. Yep, had to crack the ice on my car door this morning in order to open it and then wait ten or fifteen minutes until the ice on the window would thaw.

  10. Sounds like your winter has taken a turn for the worse!

Koi are funny. We have a koi pond in a nearby park. There must be hundreds of koi in there. And the powers-that-be put up one of those machines in which you put a quarter and receive a handful of "fish food." The koi won't eat it. They want bread!

  13. I remember when we went to school in the snow, with chains on the bus tires rattling so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. Back in the day.

  14. The superintendant must be getting a lot of complaints.

I take it winter tires are the exception as opposed to the rule there.

    1. you know it's funny...we are from southern california but had tire chains because if you wanted to get to the snow in the mountains you had to have chains. then we moved to missouri, nobody used chains so we got rid of them. since southern california we've lived in missouri, georgia and now virginia and nobody uses chains or special tires that i am aware of. snow doesn't last long, it's mostly a day or 2 event so i guess that's our excuse! interesting though...seems southern californians are more prepared lol

  16. We had a similar situation this season. I think the districts get desperate to have a day of school and forgo safety. Always a bad decision.

  17. I think deciding when to close schools is always a tough decision.
    Nice pond.

  18. That's a nice koi pond. I agree with you- I wouldn't want to have to be the one to make the call, and sounds like maybe he should have at least called for a delayed start.
