Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 31 - Bistro d' OC - Weekend Reflections

Bistro d'OC . 518 10th Street . NW . DC

Looking through my archives I noticed this with Ford's Theatre in the reflection and thought it was apropos since I talked about Ford's this week! Visit the Bistro HERE although it says the website is currently down. Linking with Weekend Reflections

Willy-Nilly time:

1) I've been a terrible blogging buddy. I mean to visit all of you, just time is getting away from me. I swear that they are lying about there being 24 hours in a day.

2) I found this neat blog about vintage cookbooks/recipes. I LOVE old cookbooks! Check it out Cookbook Love

3) I'm bummed. For B and D's birthday present I had planned on taking them to see the Harlem Globetrotters this month. I was also going to get them a special pass for 30 minutes of court time with the players. Just discovered that they (Braden and Dalton) have their last game on the same night....glad Nick hadn't purchased the tickets yet...back to the drawing board. I did get them some Google Play cards on their B-Day just so they would have something until the game...thinking I'll just give them some moolah and take them to the mall for a shopping spree now that the Globetrotter thing fell through. Dang!

4) So since we can't have snow here, I'm ready for spring...and this weekend is looking to be GORGEOUS!

5) What do you think of THIS ? Designer babies? It's kind of scary to me but then I remember being freaked out when they first cloned a sheep....remember Dolly ? We are living in the future afterall.

Now it is your turn! Post 5 random things, ANYTHIMG at all, well as long as it's clean ;) ...link here, visit others and have fun! And honestly, I appreciate each and every one of you for linking! Sooooo sorry it has taken me so long these past couple of weeks to get back for a visit! But THANK YOU!!

  1. #5 scares me...but bet a lot of stuff we take for granted scared our parents/grandparents. I totally agree with your #1, and how I would have loved to go see the Harlem Globetrotters when I was a kid. I hate that you could not do that for your kids.

  2. Great photo - I'm alway curious and surprised, what I can all see in reflections...
That with the Globetrotters is sad...
And designed babies? I cannot understand the whole text, but I know, about it speaks (in Germany too) - I find it scary!
Hope, the world can remain halfway normally - - -
    Have a nice weekend

  3. That's sad about the Globetrotters but they will have a blast at the mall. There is so much about medical science I don't understand, so much but it would surely be incredible to be free of these awful illnesses. Thanks for the cookbook link. Heading over there right now. Thanks for hosting Tanya and have a great weekend.

  7. Too bad about the Harlem Globetrotters....I've been to see them before [long ago] but they're so much fun!!

Now you say Ford's Theater? Is this THE Ford's Theater? In Wash. D. C.?

  8. I hadn't thought about Dolly the sheep in a long time. I hope you find something cool to do with the boys for their birthday. The Globetrotters would have been cool.

  10. Designer babies? Like the jeans? I mean genes???
Sorry the boys gifts didn't work out....I'm sure they'll be happy with whatever you decide for them! I need 40 hours a day; how about you?

  11. Quite a setting for a restaurant.

As for #5, well, it's a shame scientists seem to totally ignore the lessons from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. There are many reasons that book is a classic.

  13. Fun photo. - What a bummer about the birthday surprise falling through.
I'm happy we haven't had snow but I am ready for spring too.
Designer babies...that's going just a bit to far if you ask me.

  14. I love the fifties artwork on that cooking blog! Oh gosh, more genetic shenanigans! I am not sure if this is good or not! After all, God made us to have TWO parents. But then again, God did not make us to fly, and we do. LOVE that colorful Bistro, and the boys are so cute!

  15. Your photo would fit perfectly with the theme of my Willy-Nilly Friday 5 this week. I'm sorry about the Globetrotters for you all. I remember my father taking me to see them when I was a young teenager. I was so impressed. Hey, we have three feet of snow on the ground now and another load coming this weekend. You want some??

  17. So sorry to hear, Tanya, that Nick's mom died this week. Very sad when one loses a parent. Give him my best wishes for God's comfort at this difficult time. My uncle was actually my Dad's sister's husband. Dad had ten brothers and sisters, and Ann lived with Mom & Dad when I was small, when he was stationed in Seattle. One day Dad brought home a sailor he knew from his ship, and introduced him to his sister. That's how Charles Kenneth Hinkle came into our lives! :-) He was one of my favorite uncles, a really great man.

This designer baby business is scary!!! I do love that reflection of Ford's Theatre...and that cute bunch in front of it! :-)

    Have an awesome week.
