Great photo and stunning links, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe video will see any more...
After the collapse of GDR we had in our area many abandoned buildings and factories and I've made many film photos in the 90th...
Now that's all gone and demolished and redeveloped. Germany is a small and very neat country - - - there is often no space for picturesque old stuff, sigh!
Have a nice weekend
Thank you for this- I love this post and the recommended links. This will keep me busy for a while:-)
ReplyDeleteIs that mist creeping into shot?! Great links too!
ReplyDeleteit was raining!
DeleteOh Tanya you always find the most interesting sights. Enjoy your weekend. Hug B
ReplyDeleteThere is something very special about these old buildings. Another wonderful image Tanya. Thank you for sharing this and all those great links.
ReplyDeletekinda sad how these places just sit and rot.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, I loved the slide show...and all so interesting. How do you come across so many things? Do you go looking for them, or are they things you just happen across?
ReplyDeleteThis has a very desolate feel, Tanya.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo you posted. I am not sure why old abandoned buildings have such appeal, but they sure do. We have traveled quite a lot in Virginia and like it. I am going to spend some time on the links you provided.
ReplyDeleteI am just commenting on #1 and #2 right now, and will come back and do a second comment for #3 -#5. Oh my gosh!!!!! First of all, #1 hurt in a way to watch...my husband and I miss our Southern roots so much and though we do live in a cool place and I try to celebrate that, and learn as much as I can about where I live, American South history is in my blood! Russell is the Virginian, and I am from Alabama, and we both miss the history of our places of origin very much. I HAVE to buy that book! The slide show was incredible...every beautiful B&W photo made me so sad, though, as I longed for such places. We used to drive around and explore so much, and our heart is there in those old buildings and in that old countryside! As for #2, some of these places totally intrigued me! I want to know more about them, and hope there is a way to learn more. I feel I will never get to explore like we once did...if I get back to Va. I'll be visiting my Mom on the coast and there won't likely be much time for driving the back roads. You have wrenched my heart right out of my body today, Tanya! :-) Fantastic post! And I haven't even gotten to #3 thru #5! :-)
ReplyDeleteBack for my second comment...."encroaching development" is probably my most hated term! It destroys animal habitat and history! These sites were very interesting. Disturbing, though. Boy, I hate to see so many buildings and houses in such horrible shape. So sad! Thanks for posting all this, though. It's been a fascinating part of my day, even if a sad one.
ReplyDeleteVery nice brick work! I like that "teal" color, too.
ReplyDeleteFinally found time to come back and take a look at your links. Very interesting. Much of my family research is in Montgomery Co, VA; more specifically Riner (Auburn).
ReplyDeleteFor Sale Owner financing. they have to be kidding...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful find.
ReplyDeleteFor a second I thought you meant some of our historic sites were mentioned on "Jeopardy."
ReplyDeleteInside shots of long abandon building sure are creepy. Seen that site that shows 'actual' ghost towns out West? More creepsVille.
ReplyDeleteYes, I like that beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteI hope it finds a new life. Looks like such a cute place!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be wonderful to have a little shop in there? Thanks for sharing this old, brick building--and business opportunity. :)
