Springfield Baptist Church . circa 1882
This old church was in the way of developement and slated to be bulldozed until the Henrico County Historical Society saved it. It, along with the next 2 buildings were relocated to the Goochland Fairgrounds and are now part of the Field Day of the Past festival. This looks like a fun festival that I need to attend!

What a nice little church, love it !
ReplyDeleteCute and pretty buildings. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLove the look of the two old filling stations. These are all gone now.
ReplyDeleteI love that old Shell station. I remember places like that from years and years ago. Love 'looking back'.
ReplyDeleteWonderful church and gas stations! I always enjoy seeing these old historical structures!
ReplyDeleteThat is a big event with thousands of people seeing how it used to be done. One year they had a neat shingle making machine that was steam powered as I remember.
ReplyDeleteIn the '60s when I went to college in Georgia I saw many gas stations that were like the Shell station...very southern! Thanks Tanya for sharing your Virginia treasures this week and hurry on back soon.
ReplyDeleteYou know something? It is really appealing to see these buildings with all that open space around them. Especially love that beautiful church.
ReplyDeleteSo glad the historical society came along and saved these!
ReplyDeleteSO happy someone (or a lovely group) stepped in to save these buildings; they're lovely!
ReplyDeleteWell done to that preservation society! The buildings look great & are great for people to see.

ReplyDeleteSo good someone took the initiative to save it and place it where it can be visited and remembered.
ReplyDeleteI love all three...so glad they saved and moved them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a classic church.
ReplyDeleteI love all these small and pretty churches, especially the white one's because in Germany isn't any white church. The Historical Society did a good job.
