Liquor Car

Saw this baby at Peaks of Otter on Sunday and right away thought..."I have to get a picture for Tom"!

Moonshine has some deep roots here in the Virginia Appalachians.

Are you familiar with Franklin County, aka: The Moonshine Capital of the World? HERE is some interesting reading of the heritage of moonshine.

And of course I am linking with Tom's Tuesday's Treasures

  5. Awesome find! I'm going to need to do a little reading on moonshine. Is it a liquor car because it was bought with the profits? Inquiring minds wand to know...

  6. I can only imagine this car racing through the hills and hollers out running the revenuers. Moonshining has taken on a romance in popular culture. Thanks for sharing Tanya, I hope that you will stop back again real soon.

  8. There is an interesting link between hot cars and moonshine. This 1939 Ford probably had some engine modifications to allow it to outrun Police cars of the era. This was the beginning of NASCAR racing. Most of the early NASCAR drivers and car owners started by running shine.
