Have you ever seen a cemetery with...
rocking horses...
and elephants and ducks?...
Ashlyn has a good friend from high school who is buried here...the funeral was on a hot summer's day a couple of years ago...
HERE'S an interesting story on the cemetery...

What a strange mystery! I wonder if they are the headstones of dead children? Or for children to play on while the adults visit? You have really outdone yourself on this find. An image that will stay in my head for a long long time...
ReplyDeleteit's not really a mystery, there's a church right to the left of them that i didn't show...i probably should have noted that! but i still find the placement of them a little peculiar ;)
Deletewell that is sure some mystery!! Never seen anything like that for sure! Its an awful pretty place isn't it?--I hope they figure out how to keep it up and raise funds etc. Looks very peaceful and quiet and such a pretty view. Love how you always find us something interesting to look at and to ponder!
ReplyDeleteA cemetery with a playground... strange.
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly a first for me too...and not likely to be forgotten either :).
ReplyDeleteTanya, now this a first for me! If you believe that a cemetery is about celebrating and remembering life, this is a great addition. Thanks for stopping back and I hope to see you back again.
ReplyDeleteParty time at the cemetery? But no, I've never seen such items in a cemetery before! Thanks for your kind comment on my Ocala blog!
ReplyDeletei have always been told that cemetery use to be a family place, meaning the family would all come to visit their loved ones. have a picnic see all the family & friends. reminisce. for some it was very normal to do this. ( ;
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I love to browse older cemeteries. Interesting to read the headstones. and maybe the rocking toys are for restless children.

Curious, but given that the church is nearby, it's not that out of the question to see something for kids.
ReplyDeleteInteresting cemetery. Maybe lots of children are buried there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the well wishes concerning my cataract surgery. It went well.
No, I have never seen that before! Interesting.
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say that I've never seen rocking horses in a cemetery before Tanya 😀 Glade Creek has an interesting history!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to be buried. And no, never seen a cemetery with rocking horses.
ReplyDeleteNice service for parking the children by horses and ducks ;-)
