Grove Hill Road, Fincastle
With the weather being extraordinarily wonderful this weekend, we decided to get out and do some walking and picnicking. I said "hey, let's go to Fenwick Mines." They have some nice trails there. We loaded the cooler with some water and snacks and stopped off at Subway to pick up a couple of 5 dollar footlongs to share. Saw this poor barn that blew over in the wind I am guessing sometime between the past summer till now. We take this little trek almost every weekend in the summer to our favorite little spot on Craig Creek. I'm sure I have a photo of this barn in better shape somewhere. Might have even posted it for a Barn Charm. Sad to see it topple over.
Update on the movie I took the boys to on Monday afternoon. We saw Escape From Planet Earth. It was really a pretty cute movie. Ashlyn came along to help me with the 5 boys and we all really enjoyed it!

Don't know if you read my post about our experience getting lost on our hiking trail, but because of that, I'm sure glad you had the foresight to take water and a footlong!!! That way, you won't panic like I did when we got lost! :)
ReplyDeletePoor baby barn!
Love the old stuff! The silo looks overgrown. A beautiful shot!

ReplyDeleteYes it is sad but I guess it wants to rest now. Lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteFenwick Mines is a favorite spot for me too, but I haven't been in quite a while. Great shot of this barn.

Wonderful photo! I hope the barn finds a way to rest in peace, it's such a striking capture despite the collapse.
ReplyDeleteI love the vine-covered silo! The poor old barn has outlived its usefulness, but it makes for a pretty scene.
ReplyDeleteI love the barn and the ivy covered silo!
ReplyDeleteToo bad the barn has toppled over. The silo is really neat!
ReplyDeleteWe all post photos of deteriorated barns. It is only natural that some day one of them is going to go kaput! (Nice image and good color.)
ReplyDeleteI love the vine growth on the silo! Sad that this barn is blowing / falling over.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new visitor.. so I'm new to your story. Do you have five boys of your own? Curious, as we have five kids, four of them boys.
Great photo. Quite something, Tanya. Picnic????? Can hardly believe that...how lucky for you!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteToo bad the old barn blew down. I love the silo with the vines and love the colors in this photo too.

Pictures of old barns never get old for me. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the barn could have used more of the ivy from the silo to keep it upright.
ReplyDeletei wonder why they don't make the silos out of better materials. only the base seems to last a long time. so curious. ( :
ReplyDeleteLove the vines on the old silo! :)
ReplyDeletePoor old structure, but it makes for a great shot. :-)
