Barn Charm Tuesday - Grove Hill Road

Grove Hill Road, Fincastle

With the weather being extraordinarily wonderful this weekend, we decided to get out and do some walking and picnicking. I said "hey, let's go to Fenwick Mines." They have some nice trails there. We loaded the cooler with some water and snacks and stopped off at Subway to pick up a couple of 5 dollar footlongs to share. Saw this poor barn that blew over in the wind I am guessing sometime between the past summer till now. We take this little trek almost every weekend in the summer to our favorite little spot on Craig Creek. I'm sure I have a photo of this barn in better shape somewhere. Might have even posted it for a Barn Charm. Sad to see it topple over.

Update on the movie I took the boys to on Monday afternoon. We saw Escape From Planet Earth. It was really a pretty cute movie. Ashlyn came along to help me with the 5 boys and we all really enjoyed it!

  1. Don't know if you read my post about our experience getting lost on our hiking trail, but because of that, I'm sure glad you had the foresight to take water and a footlong!!! That way, you won't panic like I did when we got lost! :)

    Poor baby barn!

  17. We all post photos of deteriorated barns. It is only natural that some day one of them is going to go kaput! (Nice image and good color.)

I'm a new visitor.. so I'm new to your story. Do you have five boys of your own? Curious, as we have five kids, four of them boys.

  23. Looks like the barn could have used more of the ivy from the silo to keep it upright.
