“A freshly red-painted train caboose had, for decades now, made its home on a green, little patch of the world outside of the one-room post office. Every small town that I had ever been to had had a caboose.”

Starting out cold today. 10 degrees! School is on a 2 hour delay because of ice. Kind of hoping they upgrade to CLOSED! ;)

They don't have cabooses in Texas. I miss seeing them.
ReplyDeleteThat used to be my favorite part of a train. Don't see many around any more, though. In some places they've been made into cafes or diners which is, I think, a nice repurposing. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteAs a child we used to love seeing the caboose at the end of a train and we would wave to the man inside. The caboose man. LOL
ReplyDeleteLove that very red caboose against the very blue sky.
ReplyDeleteNice! We don't have one in Strasburg but we have a reconstructed engine plus an elaborate model railroad in the town museum.
ReplyDeletereally cute.
ReplyDeleteall are closed here. it was 4 this AM, now it is 20's ... wish i could get out - need to get to the store & post office. but it will have to wait.

Love those little red cabooses - don't get to see them much anymore.
ReplyDeleteLove that Tanya.hug B
ReplyDeleteYep, school were closed here. Only the starting temperature this morning was 2 degrees Fahrenheit and, of course, because of the snow, there were very few places for school children to gather to wait for the bus
ReplyDeleteOur schools opened late....and we didn't even have ice like they had predicted for this morning....we woke up to 27 degrees.
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally I was out-and-about this morning taking train photos. I like your interior shots very much!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love everything that's red!
ReplyDeleteSuper! I love the light in the first shot with the two shades of red!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely caboose with its fresh paint and bright colors. I got to ride in one for about 20 minutes on the closed loop of track at Prairie Village. It was a life long wish fulfilled.
ReplyDeleteI loved your series from the heritage center. Super top shot!
ReplyDeleteNice caboose! Hehe :) It's really cold here today as well. Hoping we do warm up later this week!
ReplyDeleteThe caboose at Rocky Mount has faded into a pink, not so impressive as it once was.
ReplyDeleteNo problems finding red around there, is there?
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the inside of a caboose. Fun to see what they look like.
ReplyDeleteThat is an appealing caboose!
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of trains in this area, but I rarely see cabooses anymore. Most of the time it's just the engine and rail cars. The red caboose is a classic!
ReplyDeleteOur roads are so bad we will be lucky to go to school on Friday!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beauty.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine riding mile after mile across the country in this, fantastic!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of a caboose before - don't think it is something we had in Ireland. That one is stunning painted in red!
ReplyDeleteA great reminder of where we started with transportation. So cute.
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
I miss seeing cabooses on trains!
