Abandoned Main Street VIII

Main Street . Pamplin City . Appomattox County

This is the old bank. I was able to find that it was built in the 1920's. This building isn't exactly abandoned though. I *think* I saw somewhere that they rent out rooms...maybe it was posted on the side of the building...don't quote me though ;)

  1. Gads! I hope not. It appears to be in better shape than some of the other buildings, but not by a whole lot.

  2. My first reaction was it looks like an old bank. Must be the pillars.

  4. What a cool old building. I bet it was fantastic in it's day.

  5. Looks grand and seems it would have a lot of potential for rehabbing into flats or even a large home.
    Have a Beautiful Day, Tanya!
    Peace :)

  6. Looks like it went on weight watchers before it 'retired'. Skinny.

  7. I thought it looked like a bank, not sure I'd want to sleep there, but I'd enjoy seeing the inside!

  8. It looks almost exactly like the first bank I saw in Georgia, in the late 1970s...

  10. Ya got me on this one. I was sure it was the courthouse or the city building. I can't believe they are renting rooms, who would want to live in a ghost town? But I will say that this is the nicest of all the ones you have shown.

  13. I too though 'bank' at first glance. Certainly looks worth restoring.

  14. So sad. Bank or not, it could be a beautiful home!

  15. That's a lovely old bank building. Too bad it has fallen into such neglect and deterioration. We have an old bank building downtown that is now a restaurant. Good use for the building.

  17. I love buildings with columns. They just look so grand and stately. Too bad someone hasn't taken better care of this one though. She could use a bit of a touch-up.

  18. Someone needs to restore this old building. It really looks pretty sturdy as yet.
