Trojan Dog

Fire Station #7 . Memorial Avenue . Roanoke

Trojan Dog was created in 2008 as part of a city-wide public art initiative, "A.I.R" : Art in Roanoke".

The original doggie was meant to be temporary and made of wood. A woman climbed up on his back one night after leaving a bar (you do the math) and knocked off his head. Trojan Dog #2 is much more sturdy and now a part of Roanoke's permanent art collection.

Today, and every day, I am thankful for dogs! Linking up with Michelle's Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for all the dogs in my past, for our current dog, and maybe there will be more dogs in the future!

  4. Now that is a fine looking dog. Sorry to hear of the distraction of art involving the first one. Hope people keep their hands off this one. You photo brought a big smile.

  6. What a great "sculpture." It's too bad the guy who knocked off his head didn't instead fall on his head. Maybe that would have knocked some sense into him!
