June Theme Day-Corner Store

June's Theme Day is the "Corner Store". I didn't even realize today was the first of June when I went to post a picture this morning! I forgot all about the theme day and had another picture ready to post. Unfortunately, having not planned ahead, my husband is out of town with my camera so I had to dig through my small amount of archived photos and found this one of the Piggly Wiggly located in Monroe. Hopefully I'll plan better for next months theme! The Piggly Wiggly has a fun website though that has recipes and other neat stuff, check it outHERE!

  4. Tanya, I always smile when I see or hear the name Piggly-Wiggly. There is one of these stores in Puyallup, Washington, where my aunt used to live about 30 miles south of Seattle. Nice recovery for theme day. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. Ace IS the place, for sure :)

  5. Nice save. As a born and bred Mid-westerner who lived for a few years in Florida as a child, Piggly-Wiggly's have always seemed to me quintessentially Southern.

  6. Oh, Piggly Wiggly. We used to have them here, but they're gone now.

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I used to have a bunch of customers from Georgia. You would have liked my store, I think, as I see you're into genealogy.

  9. I've never been to a PW (I lived in the US for over a decade), but I heard about them from friends who were from the South. The name always got to me. Hee!

  11. I love the name too. I've heard them referred to, but I haven't seen them in California. It seems to suggest that if you want to shop for bacon, you have to go in and catch the greased pig yourself!

  12. We have three Piggly Wiggly's in our county (Haralson) I had no idea they had a website. People around here call it "The Pig"

  16. The irony of course is that this is probably most people's corner store in this age of fast living.

  19. I get such a kick out of their name! We don't have them around here, so the first time we traveled South, it came as a surprise and made us laugh! ;-)

  20. "Louis" says 'Oh, my! A Piggly Wiggly!' "Louis" hasn't seen a Piggly Wiggly in years. There were some in the Texas Panhandle when "Louis" was growing up, but they are long gone now...
