Am I the only one who loves the way a barn smells? The scents from the horses, hay, grain, leather, all mixed together...mmmm :)
Happy New Years Eve! What are your plans for the evening? We are just staying in, probably do some fireworks, I'll make a bunch of munchies and watch all the New Years festivities on tv. 2009 here we come!

ReplyDeleteHeres hoping you and yours have a super 2009!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... barn smells. Well, I like the smell of hay. :) Very nice homey picture.
ReplyDeleteFor New Year's, if we are not travelling, I make a spagetti dinner & we just hang out. Sometimes friends or family come to dinner, & sometimes not.
Wish you a lovely evening. Do the little ones make it to midnight?
Thanks Tanya, I wish a fantastic new Year to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteI can't even say. Have never been inside a barn. Not something we see everyday in Metro Manila ;D
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Tanya! Wishing you a peaceful and prosperous 2009.
I love the smell of hay too.
ReplyDeletede retour de NYC, je te souhaite une bonne et heureuse année 2009.
ReplyDeleteback from NYC, I wish you a Happy New Year 2009.
I can skip the barn smell. But you know you sure arnt still in the city. Going to friends tonight and will watch the countdown on tv. I hope you have a safe evening.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of barns, totally enjoy photographing them and the old barn wood. They are becoming more and more difficult to find as they age and collapse or have their wood re-purposed by builders. Would be very cool to live in an old barn that has been re-done....
ReplyDeleteIt's WINDY today! Yikes... the house is rocking and rolling.
Have a wonderful New Year... we will be home as well.

Wooden barns look great but we don't have them here, as far as I know.
ReplyDeleteWish you and your family a Happy New Year!
Yes I do love old barns. We had a birthday party for my grandson at a horse ranch one year and part of it was held in the barn letting the kids feed the horses and watch the barn cats doing tricks. The kids loved it. I'm doing the same thing you are for New Year's eve only without fireworks. Happy New Year Tanya!
ReplyDeleteI just love the smell of the countryside. You're very lucky to live out there. Have a great NYE!
ReplyDeleteyou and my girlfriend love horse stench. Not me! Happy New Year Tanya
ReplyDeleteI like the smell of a barn for a limited amount of time -- not on a hot summer's day, though! I really like the look of this barn, and the light you caught on the grass.
ReplyDeleteIt is extrememly windy here today, too. I'm afraid we'll lose the other half of the tree that split in last February's wind storm. (Don't want to start 2009 that way.) Happy New Year to you!
Is that your barn? It looks great. I, too, love the smell of a barn.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your New Year traditions.
Yes Stacy, sad thing though about our barn. The previous owners sold 1.5 acres to Kroger, who wants to build their drive thru pharmacy there, right where the barn is. And the way they sold it, they sold the land to Kroger, but the barn is ours. We could have it moved for a nice sum of money, but we'll pass. It isn't in a very convenient place for us really, you have to kind of climb up a hill to get to it, but I love it just the same. I really hope they forget what they wanted the land for, lol. I do want to take parts of the barn to keep though. Maybe we can eventually build one, and use the old barn doors for the new one. This barn isn't the original though, we rebuilt years later as the original burnt down. So at least it's not very old, that would be a shame.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for stopping by and Happy New Year!
KM, you always crack me up ;)
that story was too funny! ha haha. Men will be boys....I guess...:)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Love the barn. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteLove the sights and scents of horse barns and everything about horses. And love the picture of your barn.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours. We are staying home and will enjoy fireworks that the city will have tonight.
tous mes voeux de bonheur, de joie, de santé et de paix à vos proches et vous même !
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too!
ReplyDeleteI love the light at the barn door.
ReplyDeleteHope you have lots of fun tonight. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year to you! We're staying in, too. We stayed out far too late last night for a neighborhood party. Tonight, I'll make crab-stuffed shrimp. I only make it once a year - a New Year's Eve tradition.
ReplyDeleteCan't get close enough to hay to smell. Terrible allergy. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThe smell of nature is always rich. Wish you and your family a very Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI do love the smell of a barn. I love the smell of horses. I always sniff our horses and breath in their noses.
ReplyDeleteStaying at home all by my lonesome tonight. YAY!! I have had gboys for 10 days and snowed in besifes. Whew. MB
Do you have horses? I adore the smell of a barn. I think my horse must have thought I was crazy today--I pulled his face close, "Hold on, let me smell," and took a whiff of his sweet horse breath.
