What The...???

(As seen in the Daleville Kroger parking lot :) )

So what do you make of this license plate? Does it say what I think it does? One thing we've noticed upon moving here is that Virginian's love their vanity plates and the Old Dominion State doesn't seem that strict about what you can put on your plates. My husband said vanity plates are very inexpensive here so that may be why you see more personalized plates than not. I did the DMV work for years back in my working days in San Diego for a few different dealerships and the great state of California was very selective about what they would allow on your plate and you had to give a brief description of what your plate would mean if they granted their seal of approval. Here, I've seen some pretty controversial plates, or that I, an ex-DMV clerk would consider controversial.

I do have to say, I love her attitude towards the Marine Corps, especially since I spent the first 4 years of my married life as the wife of a Marine :)

While many of the personalized plates just tell how many kids they have or what number their boy is on the high school football team, some are pretty entertaining.
I think I should do a series on Virginia license plates as I see them!

  1. WoW! Controversial & Distracting w/ all the bumper stickers! Looks like the driver needs to "Lighten Up!"

  2. I guess I'd speak out against anything distracting. It's too tempting to get up close and read some of these stickers..

A series on licence plates would definitely be entertaining..in France these things simply aren't so personalised.

  6. I saw one in LA once that said a very nasty phrase in Italian. I guess the DMV clerk who approved that one didn't understand Italian! LOL!

  7. Interesting that she would want to distract people driving behind her with that plate and all those bumper stickers! I doubt that one would get approved here in Florida.

  8. I'm all for the series! Holy Moly, I can't imagine driving around with that! She probably grew up playing with Bratz dolls for role models. :)

  9. You definitely will not see this around here. Every plate looks the same. I really wouldn't like to call everybody's attention to my car... lol!

  10. Pitbull lipstick humor I guess.

  14. Interesting! I am in CA and your right about the vanity plates, I rarely see anything that is questionable.

  15. That would be very interesting. Illinois has a lot of Vanity plates...it is fairly cheap if there is a number included....only words...bigger bucks....something like 95.00 as opposed to 65.00. I know California is bigger bucks than that....when the next door neighbor moved here from CA...she thought she won the lottery when it came to car licensing here in the lovely state where our governors get to MAKE our license plates...LOL

  16. Hm, the bumper sticker says she's mean...maybe she was cranky with some DMV clerks and they automatically assigned her this plate? ;)

  17. We have personalised number plates here in Australia - but this would not be allowed! They seem like a waste of time to me. Why would anyone voluntarily give the government more money and make it easier for the police to remember their number plate. I think a series on plates would be entertaining.

Thanks for your visit, Tanya. I have corrected the problem with the text being cut-off along the RHS. Unfortunately, it was a tragic end to the story of the 4 mates and the annual canoe expedition ...

  18. How rude! Lol :) You would never bee allowed that here. People have to be clever and use the numbers and letters. The cutest I saw was
T1GG3R. The person was a Winnie The Pooh fan. :)

  19. Tanya, are you one of those local girls who married a cute Marine? When I first moved to Oceanside, I used to joke that it was a damn tragedy Marines are on the front lines, because they are, flat out, the hottest branch of the military. Can't we send in our bucktoothed, splay-footed Army guys in first? Just seems like such a waste; I mean, don't we want to get MORE attractive as a county? haha

    Apologies to former Army recruits!

  20. LOL Farmgirl, yep, but he was a local boy too, we went to high school together, well 10th grade...and ITA! I even got to work at the PX on base, around all those Marines! I worked in the sporting goods department and was surrounded by them daily, showing them guns, lol.

  21. You might like my blog... It's filled with VA plates. I agree, they are some of the worst!

  22. Wow, that's surprising considering all the church people around here!

Tanya, we kind of took the same route here--I came from Jersey (little California), detoured to Oklahoma and am now here. I call it Heaven-on-Earth.

  23. You should do a series! And someday, you should check out mine. Vanity plate can be really funny sometimes! My family members have enjoyed seeing vanity plates on my blog so much that now they'll snap a photo if they see one during their travels. We like to see people expressing themselves!

  24. I liked the sticker that said "Aint nothin' meaner than a Marine, 'cept his mother" Yes, Mums can be mean! We love 'em though! - Dave
