Longwood Avenue . Bedford
This school was built in 1908 and closed more than 20 years ago from what I've read...it is called "Big Yellow" and sits next to the Bedford Middle School which is being used now:
This one was built in the 1930's and I read that they will continue to use it through the 2017-2018 school year and then will move to a new school. I know the students are probably excited to get a new school but I would prefer one of these 2!
I have a lot more pictures of Big Yellow and I also want to do a little more research on it so I will show all that next week...I can't focus tonight, the dogs are going crazy barking at something and if they aren't barking, someone comes in to ask me a million questions...sooo...signing out for the night!

Beautiful big Yellow, I hope, they find a new purpose for it, would be like to read more about.
ReplyDeleteHope, the dogs are sleeping well now (my cat isn't much better, often I cannot write a post or comment without breaking... - )
The old building must have used to be yellow. Quite a difference between the two. But I imagine yellow is now way too small for all the students. It looks just a bit Spanish. In some ways, it is prettier than the newer building.
ReplyDeletei am sorry, i just don't see the yellow? unless you are speaking yellow school buses? giggles!! weird. ( ;
ReplyDeleteyeah, it doesn't look very yellow...must have been more yellow way back!
DeleteI like the first one the best. The 2nd one reminds me of one of the elementary schools I attended. But that first school has character and warmth. The second one is just another brick building.
ReplyDeleteTanya, both are beautiful school, they are a lot classier than those built today. Thanks for sharing this week and I hope to see you back again.
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer these to what's built these days.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Big Yellow has been deserted all this time Tanya, it's an old beauty, it should be used for something 'arty' 😊
ReplyDeleteInteresting old school building. Too bad it is no longer being used.
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame that not only Big Yellow is being unused but the other middle school will soon be deserted too. Are there not any plans for either one in the future, I hope so.
ReplyDeleteOh but these two buildings are so attractive!
ReplyDeleteTreasures indeed!
ReplyDeleteI love Big Yellow too. It has personality. To me it looks like a happy place.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty buildings, I like the architecture
ReplyDeleteIt looks a bit like the elementary school where I went to school. It was closed maybe 30 years ago and is now senior housing.
ReplyDeleteYes I prefer the old buildings as well I suppose they have a reason for moving.
