Once there was a tree..... and she loved a little boy. And every day the boy would come and he would gather her leaves and make them into crowns and play king of the forest. He would climb up her trunk and swing from her branches and eat apples. And they would play hide-and-go-seek. And when he was tired, he would sleep in her shade. This awesome, old tree is the Osage Orange tree that stands at Patrick Henry's Red Hill (that is Patrick Henry's law office in the background). This tree is believed to be 200-400 years old and was the largest of its species until it recently lost out to 2 others, 1 of which stands on a property in Alexandria once owned by George Washington.
