Signs 2 - The Great Valley

Great Valley Overlook . Blue Ridge Parkway . MP 99.6

As you travel along the Blue Ridge Parkway there are these overlooks every couple of miles or so...the views are always worth pulling over!

The Great Valley

"The Great Valley extends through the Appalachians from New York to Alabama. Here the valley is confined by the Alleghenies on the west and by the Blue Ridge on the east. The great warrior path of the Iroquois and Cherokee was used by the Scotch-Irish and German pioneers from Pennsylvania when they migrated down the valley to settle this area in 1730-50."

HERE'S a neat site I found to get a virtual view!

Today I am thankful for more and more spring like days! We've been enjoying warm weather and everyday I notice more and more things blooming! The forsythia and daffodils are in bloom and I even saw some Cherry blossoms today! We dip back into winter for the next couple of days but that's ok...spring is right around the corner!

Tuesday's Treasures - Blue Ridge Parkway Trails

Blue Ridge Parkway

Sunday was such a pretty day so we loaded Ozzy in the car and took him for a trail walk. This one isn't too far up the Parkway from us...I think it's Black Horse Trail but I'm not sure...we've walked this one a few times. Pretty views!

Ozzy loves spending time here...we keep him on a leash but he had visits from 3 unleashed dogs...he enjoyed them all...one was called "Fat Mary" haha...

2)
This is a popular place for horseback riding...

3)
And bike riding...there are miles of trails...

4)
The water is so peaceful...

5)
I think this was an old farm at one time...there are several little broken down pens and old fencing...

Day Creek . Blue Ridge . Botetourt County

Sunday was too nice to spend indoors so Nick and I took Ozzy over to Day Creek...a short drive from our house where Ozzy gets some hiking time in and Nick enjoys sitting by the creek. There were lots of people out on horses and bikes!
Warmer temps today and tomorrow too!

Monday Murals - Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens . Williamsburg

This is one of my favorite theme parks, after Disneyland! Having grown up and living most of my life near Disneyland needless to say we spent a lot of time there from school field trips to family and friends trips...now living on the East Coast I will admit that we haven't done the Disney World thing...Disney from my youth is my favorite Disney...Disney now is so over the top commercialized...ahhh but I'm supposed to be talking about Busch Gardens, sorry! Yes, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is probably my favorite theme park now...decorated in a European theme with cute little landscaped villages and super fun rides!

Bonus pic:

Recognize these 2?!

Lake Forest . Troutville

This little pond isn't too far from home...it belongs to the Lake Forest Subdivision...Dalton likes to fish here sometimes... yesterday I pulled over to see if it had flooded yet but it was still early in the day...was a little higher than normal...wonder what it is like today though...while looking I noticed something else...

5)
Lowe's . Bonsack

While at Lowe's this week (I work there part time... I'm also still working part time at the high school but this is my last semester as the boys will be graduating!!) a regular came in with his beautiful Great Dane, Chinook... Chinook gets lots of attention when they come in but he also always has his 2 Boxers wait out in his vehicle...me and my friend went out to pet them! I see these guys everywhere actually and take their picture when I do! Linking with Eileen's Saturday's Critters
