I took a few pictures in Boone's Mill a couple of weeks ago off some rural roads. Remember when I had to take Ozzy to try out that new kennel? This was taken the second day I had to take him. On this day, he was supposed to meet another worker but sadly that visit didn't go well. Ozzy growled at her and she became scared of him and so then he was banned from another kennel. Argh, less than a week before we were leaving for the beach. I had to do some quick planning. The owner of this kennel really liked Oz but of course couldn't let him stay when one of her workers were terrified of him. She did give me the number to a man who trains police dogs so I gave him a call and he referred me to a kennel, get this, right by my house lol. He said his friend took his very aggressive German Shepard there the week before and had no problems. So I made the phone call, told the woman about Ozzy's tendencies to growl at people and she didn't seem concerned in the least. Just made the reservation for him. The whole time on our trip I was worried that I'd get the phone call "come pick Ozzy up" but I didn't and then when we returned back home to get him, I was terrified to get the news "this dog can never, EVER come back" but we didn't! We actually got a good report on him, yay! Now Ozzy is a great dog, he's just not one of those that likes many other people, other than his family. I don't know if this is something we can train him out of or if this is just how he will be.
Anyways.....this area, where my picture was taken, is to be the setting that the new movie Lawless takes place. It's a movie about bootleggin' in Franklin County during the Depression Era. Franklin County is known as the "Moonshine Capital of the World". It sounds really good!
Oh, and today is my birthday :) No football practice today so I have reserved The Hunger Games from the Redbox and we'll grab some dinner out to bring home and have dinner and a movie. I'm really easy to please! I'm looking forward to it.
And all the kids had a good first day back at school yesterday. Braden and Dalton just love their new teacher and came running in the door when they got home telling me how "awesome" she is! They also got to eat suckers yesterday. I think that adds to her awesomeness!

Happy Birthday Tanya. Good news about Ozzy and your party sounds just perfect.:) B
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I always though of Ozzy as an oversized lap dog. The last guy got it right, he's just misunderstood.
ReplyDeleteThis one has that foggy dreamy effect to it. Very artistic looking. Yet poetic to read your story.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I am glad you found a kennel close to home for your pup!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found a kennel that works!
ReplyDeleteHave you read The Wettest County in the World? Based on true events in Franklin County. It's actually a really interesting book.
i think i read that the movie is based on this book...i'll have to check!

A fine shot of this little cabin with such a wonderful colorcast. Fine work.
ReplyDeleteLove the light in your photo! It almost looks like a painting. Very cool old barn!
ReplyDeleteHave a very Happy Birthday!
We live in the area where parts of the book wettest county in the world took place, the movie is supposed to be based on it but from what I have seen it doesn't look like Franklin county.
ReplyDeleteThe Blackwater station and bridge where the shooting occurred is where grassy hill rd crosses the blackwater river and the deputy and prisoner were ambushed near Antioch church on Callaway road.
Was Blackwater Station where Cooper Wood was? Was the bridge the one that was replaced around 1994?
DeleteSounds like you have a wonderful birthday planned Tanya! That looks like it might be a tin roof on that building. My grandmother used to have one of those and I loved listening to the rain when it hit that roof.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday to you! glad you've got a great day planned.
ReplyDeletehope ozzy continues to do well at that kennel, should you need it again.
really like this old building.
Ditto on the birthday!
ReplyDeleteI love the old building in the photo.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
I'm glad the boys had an awesome first day! That bodes well for the rest of the year. And how wonderful that Ozzy behaved himself!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to say that I love this shot of the little building. The Bootlegger Capital? Who knew?
ReplyDeleteA sweet little structure you've captured, Tanya. Really like the editing too.
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a chow mix that would even look at me sideways at times and I never fully trusted him -- nothing we ever did while raising him, he was just that way. Our 2 German Shepherds will bark at strangers approaching the house, but once we say it's okay, they are fine and lay down. I do hope Ozzy gets to stay at the new kennel and maybe develop a kinder attitude. Happy Birthday to you, dear. :)
Happy birthday to you!! Your dinner and a movie sounds like a perfect birthday party! :)
ReplyDeleteLove this old building and your edit is great!
Happy Birthday! Love that little porch...

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and good news on the kennel; hope you had a great time at the beach. I was at Cherry Grove, NMB, SC for a few days and it was wonderful weather.
ReplyDeleteVisiting via Rural Thursday Blog Hop.
Happy Birthday!!! And wonderful shot...Ok, now I HAVE to watch Lawless. We got hooked on Hell on Wheels and now Copper. These period mini-series are sometimes really good! And I will look for your buildings to show up in some scenes! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave to tell you....we owned a Rhodesian Ridgeback. She was a pussycat, loved everybody. But she was a horse (95 pounds) and when we left her at a kennel once she got away from the owner and was running loose, and the owner was terrified he wouldn't catch her! :-) But it all turned out fine. Great dog! We loved her to death! I understand your worries over finding a kennel that can handle your dog well. How great the one you found was so close to your house!
Glad things worked out for Ozzy. Maybe next time you won't have to worry the whole vacation. Love that shack!
