Blackberry Bush

Alot of crazy little weeds and flowers and vines just pop up around our yard this time of year through the summer. If you don't trim it constantly it will become a jungle, which it was when we moved in, before we cleared it all out. Our backyard was so thick with underbrush that you couldn't even walk through it all. One thing that grows wild back there are blackberries. There was a pretty big patch of them on the edge of our yard, that is coming back this year, smaller than before since we had to clear so much out to fence, and this bush that I photographed is in my dog's yard. When the berries are ready, the kids like to go out and pick them for ice cream!

  3. And here I just planted to blackberry bushes. I hope to get some but they are really for the wildlife that wanders in or flies in here. I love blackberries on ice cream.

Your photo and words describing your dense jungle and thicket reminds me that it was probably a wildlife oasis until you cleared it out and maybe they are coming back to live there again. Hope so.

    Your post is really nice.

Thanks for your visits and comments. I so appreciate them.

  4. Abe, behind us was 25 acres of woods. Unfortunately a developer purchased it and built a subdivision. We would have left our yard wooded if not for that. Alot of wildlife has lost their homes now. We left a portion of our yard wooded on the other side of our fence though because my boys like to play in there!
It's sad with all the building around here and cleaning out woods, we see deer roam our subdivision.

  8. A nasty plant but oh such a fabulous fruit. I have had to try and rid the garden of blackberry taking over. I also remember the hours of balckberry picking as a child.
