A Flock of Seagulls
I love seagulls. Being originally from San Diego, we saw them all the time. I always enjoyed feeding them while at the beach, even though I knew better because you know, you feed a couple and the next thing you know you are surrounded by hundreds all swooping down on you for a snack.
I miss seeing these oceanic icons and occasionally will see a lost one or two flying around a shopping center parking lot and wonder how they got there, being 5 hours from the coast like we are.
These seagulls pictured above are in Virginia Beach. Have a great day!

When we lived in PA we had seagulls around the local malls too; never quite understood. Nice photo.

I am the opposite. I do not like seagulls. I live in Florida for some time and they were always quite agressive there. If you were eating in a resto outdoors, some would even come and take food right off your plate!
ReplyDeleteBut I know what you mean about seeing them inland. I guess they have just learned to adapt to changing environments.
I like them OK, but they can be aggressive sometimes! I grew up on the beach and my Dad always used to love to take our stale bread and take us to feed the seagulls and sea"boys" and he used to say!
ReplyDeleteHaving done volunteer work on the U.S.S. Pampanito, «Louis» lost any fondness he might have for seagulls. One job was to clean their bomb drops from the upper deck of the submarine. If this isn't done promptly, the seagull "bomb" eats right through the marine paint to the bare metal below. Toxic stuff!

On a happier note, that's a beautiful masthead photo...
Another great photo, enjoyed catching up this morning. I miss watching the seagulls too. Being a retired navy wife we lived in San Diego and Virginia Beach for a while, and have family in VB so visit that town pretty regularly during the year. When I was little we used to vacation at the seaside in a caravan and feed the gulls through the small skylight window. Hearing them and watching them take that bread was always so much fun. So yes, I have a soft spot for these guys.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy seagulls and enjoy taking photos of them especially at Virginia Beach. They are graceful in flight.
