SkyWatch Friday

Football season has started! Braden and Dalton attended football camp at Lord Botetourt High School this week. Botetourt Parks and Rec puts this on each year and the little kids, ages 6-12 are instructed by the high school players and coaches.

Here they are preparing to warm up under a toasty, blue summer sky. Temps were in the upper 90's this week but they kept the boys hydrated!
(Braden and Dalton are in the last row, Braden in orange shorts, green hat and Dalton in black shorts, red hat)

To see more skies from all over, or to play along, visit SKYLEY!

Happy SkyWatching!!

  1. Great shot, I'm so ready for football! The weather looks great, mid 90s would be a cool spell here.

  6. I've heard the temperature's soaring high in some parts of the US from television. But summer is time for fun - like playing football. Nice photo.

  9. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, Tanya and following along. I truly appreciate it.

I agree with everyone else that summer seems to be slipping away.

    Great photo! :)

  10. It's almost football time here in Tennessee as well. Everyone seems to be doing a pretty good job of keeping the kids safe during this hot weather. I hope your boys enjoyed their football camp.

  11. I always pity the kids who have to practice football in sweltering heat.

    WHEN PLANETS PLUMMET

    When planets plummet
    And comets careen,
    It’s the strangest sight
    You ever have seen.

    When drunk stars stagger
    And comets collide,
    It’s time to look up
    As you go outside

    To stare at the sky
    Where the strangest sight
    Is the moon-faced thing
    That you see at night.

  14. It's good to know that the team, practicing, is keeping in touch with mother nature's wrath and keeping fluids in their system. Love the photo. Yep, that time of year. Golly, even Professional Football will be in full swing soon, now that the deliberations and threat of a strike is over.

With the impending fizzling tropical storm yesterday and not being online much because of preparing for the worst that never came, I'm now trying to catch up on visiting those that visited me. Thanks for taking the time to leave a great comment: MUCH APPRECIATED!!

    Have a blessed weekend.

  16. I can certainly remember those days so long ago. My boys are so old now...how time flies. Now to your questions: Hog Back is GREAT to climb....the back way and the way many go up is out at Goshen Pass at the swinging bridge...and yes, college kids used to go out there to party when my sons were growing up...do not know if that floats anymore with the DUI laws. My kids would go out there and camp. which they did up on Laurel Run..also on Goshen Pass. RE: Lake Robertson....lots of campers...really nice walks...a pool....a chapel (that one really surprised us the first time) ...a store...playground areas for the kids...but I do not know if people swim in the lake...I have that gut feeling there is no swimming in the lake allowed. It is really kept up well and is only 9 miles from our house. Hope that helps. Genie
