Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 51 - This Week

This week for Willy Nilly I'm going to show you 5 things I've seen through my camera lens this week:

1)
The boys' football game Thursday. They played Staunton River Middle School and won 40-0. The photo above shows Dalton running the ball and Braden #16 was blocking for him. Braden wanted me to delete this photo because it shows that he didn't block good enough and allowed Dalton to get tackled lol

2)
A familiar sight which is gaining more and more in popularity since the whole Confederate Flag controversy. The yellow flag is the Virginia Don't Tread On Me flag.

3)
As seen leaving the Bonsack Kroger...God welcomes Kroger shoppers ;) Clever!

4)
The area to the right has been a hot spot since we moved here. It was once a truck stop with a hotel, gas station and restaurant the truck drivers frequented but it caused traffic to be a nightmare in the area. Ever since we moved here in 2008 there's been talk of tearing it down. Well, just recently they did just that. Problem is though that there is not another place for truck drivers to get a good night's sleep for quite a distance away. I've heard they are supposed to put a round-a-bout in at the intersection, not sure...I don't think anyone really knows what they are going to do with this area. But honestly, it really hasn't solved the problem since there is a gas station to the left that the truck drivers now use and block traffic in the other direction....and the people who plan this stuff are highly educated right?

5)
Just a pretty old house in the Bonsack area....with lots of power lines ruining the view ;)

Once again I am going to apologize. I haven't gotten my groove back and a good blogging routine yet since the move. I really do apologize and have meant to visit...it seems like I've been a broken record about that lately :( I will get a system eventually, right?!!

It's your turn, post 5 randoms, link up and visit others!! Have a great weekend!! And to my American friends enjoy the long weekend (Labor Day!)

  6. Brothers caring for each other...they have one another's backs, don't they? Sweet! And I love the flags!!! And the pretty house (would love to live there!) The church sign was great!!! I know you feel terribly behind, but don't let it get to you...you may never get caught up, but that will be ok. We all are just glad you are back!

Headed to the Children's Home to take quilts, clothes and toys for the kids, and will be gone about all day. Will check out everyone's posts when I get back. Have an awesome day!

  8. I love these little peeks into your life. No worries about the lack of comments, etc. I know how it feels sometimes to get out of the "blogging rhythm".

  9. I hope you didn't squash Braden's NFL hopes. ;) We've noticed more flag waving, too. Cute sign at the church. Hope they get the traffic problems solved. It would be nice for the truckers to have a good place to stop. I'm glad I don't have to go down those front steps in winter. I do like the house.

  10. i am shocked 2 c that the Confederate battle flag flies many other places than the south of this anazing USA! & they r very poud of their history, i have always wanted 2 join the Daughters of the Confederacy, because of family background, etc. & this has definitely pushed me to do so. ( ;

  11. Don't worry about getting back into the routine. I've been blogging for years and I still haven't gotten into a routine...possible never will. We do what we can, when we can. That's works for me. Just glad to see you back.

  12. Truck stop safety is a problem at various points along I-81. I'm glad the state rest stops re-opened, although the new advertising billboards are tacky-looking. Speaking of tacky, don't get me started on those rebel flags! I grew up in Virginia and I understand why folks don't understand the Civil War: we were misinformed in elementary school. A text book stated that the war was fought for state's rights. I hope by now this has been corrected. Now that I've studied the war for a couple of decades, the rebel flag makes me cringe! It's okay at re-enactments and museums but on trucks, well... it's a heritage I'm not proud of.
