Greenbrier East High School . Lewisburg . West Virginia

A couple of weeks ago we traveled to West Virginia for a football game and this was the sky during half time...it cast such a pretty glow everywhere which I wasn't able to pick up in the picture but it was pretty amazing...makes me think of these lyrics..."almost Heaven, West Virginia...Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River..." ok, try not to sing that for the rest of the day haha :)

By the way, we won, 45-26! Our boys are undefeated so far...2 games left!

Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 143

1)
Last night JV took on Rockbridge at home and won 44-8...

2)
#10 isn't my child but look at him fly! He was trying to catch a pass but sadly missed it...A for effort though!

3)
Dalton running the ball...

4)
That kid grabbed on to Braden's jersey then his ankle...Braden tried to break free and drug him a little ways but finally went down...

5)
Braden 3, Dalton 21

Well friends, that's my 5 this week...all football of course because that is consuming my life...in fact, I have to go get ready to get the boys to school early today for their team breakfast...I'll catch up with you later! Have a great day and weekend!

1)
Wednesday the boys had a game in Albermarle County...they played West Albermarle High School...the games are usually on Thursday's but had to be changed to Wednesday for some reason...of course it was a cold and rainy day...rained the whole 90 minutes it took me to get there...Dalton's girlfriend Kaile rode with me! (that's Dalton catching an interception)

2)
It didn't rain very heavily, just a constant annoying drizzle...then about half time it was like someone turned on a light and the rain stopped! The sky was such a pretty color, and bright!

3)
Hey Tanya, the game is straight ahead of you...(the sky and mountains were so pretty I couldn't stop looking!)

4)
Then the fog started to roll in and made it look so cool! (Dalton 21 and Braden 23...when they play on JV they don't have their regular numbers of 12 and 21 since they are technically on Varsity and never picked JV jerseys so they grab what's available on game day haha)

5)
Final score...Lord Botetourt Cavaliers for the win!

That's my 5 this week and I hope you will play along too! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others as time allows (something I've been so short of lately, sorry!) Have a super weekend friends!

Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 141 & A City Daily Photo Theme Day!

1)
This month's theme for City Daily Photo is "Photographing the Photographer"...I caught this guy last night at the JV game. Lord Botetourt hosted Blacksburg and won 26-20 in the last few seconds of the game!
This is a cheer dad...he was sitting a row or two down from me snapping pics of the cheerleaders while I snapped pics of the game (and him!).

2)
There's another "photographer"...she's from Blacksburg...I'm jealous because I have to sit in the stands to get my pictures...there's my 82 coming in (Braden)

3)
I figured since it was Willy Nilly and theme day I'd center Willy Nilly around the theme day :) ...there she is again...snap, snap, snap!

4)
Dalton 21 and Braden 82...they play Varsity this year but don't get a lot of play time yet since moving up so their coach knows how much they want to play so he let them play down on JV...on Varsity they are 21 and 12...it's an honor for them to move up to Varsity as a sophmore even if most of it is spent on the side lines!

5)
Dalton catching an interception and getting the ball back...that play turned the game around as we were trailing behind at that point!

So that's my 5 this week friends! I hope you will play along too! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others!

And don't forget to check out the theme from all over the world by visiting City Daily Photo

Have a great weekend!!

1)
Football season has officially started with two-a-days yesterday...they have to be at school by 7 a.m. and get done at 2:30...they will do this for 5 days, including tomorrow, a Saturday!
(This pic was taken last football season...that's Dalton getting down low to take that boy out!)

2)
(Braden 15 with the ball...in case you were wondering they are on the same team, just different uniforms for home and away games)

Yesterday after practice Braden and Dalton's coach took them aside and told them they would be practicing with Varsity today. They are pretty excited about that! They've worked hard! I hope all goes well!

3) Recently I started watching Southern Charm. It's a reality show about a group of young people and a couple not so young, who live in Charleston, SC...a few of them have deep family roots in Charleston from before the Revolutionary War...I find that so interesting! There's 4 seasons and they are available on demand...I am ready to start the 4th!

4) Ashlyn is coming over a little later to do her laundry haha...poor thing doesn't have a washer and dryer in her apartment but no biggie...it will be nice to see her!

5) We've had a heat wave the last couple of weeks. The temps were in the 90's for 16 days straight ending yesterday with temps only in the lower 80's...glad that happened just in time for the boys' football practice!

That's it for me this week! I hope you will join in too! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others!! Have a great weekend, stay cool!

1)
Thursday night was Braden and Dalton's last football game for this season. They ended undefeated, 10-0! What a great season! They really enjoyed it, never once complaining even when their summer was shortened with 2-a-day practices and weight lifting...then practicing 2 hours each day after school...not once a complaint!

2)
Getting pumped up before the game!

3)
Halftime...Ashlyn and I went to use the restroom and I left my camera with Christian...came back and he took a few random photos like this one lol...this is a lady from the visitor's side going to the port-a-potty!

4)
Final score

5)
Winners!

That's my 5 this week and I sure hope you will play along too! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others! Have a super weekend!

I apologize for not getting around yet to visit you from last week but I will! This week got past me in the blink of an eye! I thank you though for linking :)

1)
Lord Botetourt JV team about to show William Byrd how to play football! At William Byrd High School.
Thursday nights still mean football for me. The boys just wrapped up another win, 54-12 and are now 9 & 0! 1 game left...hopefully we end the season undefeated!

2)
Here Braden caught a kickoff return and ran it about 80 yards for a touchdown...that is Dalton running right with him blocking for him...Isn't it amazing how in sync they are? Even as their mom it still surprises me!

3)
In the 4th quarter Dalton was injured. Here he is on the bench #21...He had "Turf Toe" which is basically a sprained toe. He made a tackle and then was down, flat out laying on his stomach. Everyone took a knee...my heart stopped...then I saw him roll over to his back....I could breath again knowing he was moving but still concerned...Then with the help of a coach he got up and hobbled to the bench...everyone clapped...I could breath deeper. Finding out he had "turf toe" was something I was ok with...him not so much as he finds it an embarrassing injury haha...anyways, he told me after the game he rolled over because he knew I would be worried so he wanted me to know that he was ok....this goes back to a few years ago while playing rec football...he made a tackle, landed on his stomach and layed there, motionless for what seemed like forever to me...coaches and refs were gathered around him...about the time I was starting to jump over the fence, he slowly got up...he had the wind knocked out of him...I told him then that if he is able to, do something so I know he is ok and just catching his breath...I love watching them play football but it sure can be scary at times and I admit to sending a prayer up before each game that nobody gets hurt.

4)
At times I found it hard to focus on the game because the sky was so pretty!

5) And now totally not football related! I have made THIS PEPPER STEAK a few times and it's so good! The link is to a blog of mine I started a while back for all those great things I try on Pinterest but I admit to not being so good about keeping up with it but I am going to try to post the recipes I've tried and liked just so I can go back to them and read them easier...Have you noticed so many cooking blogs have way too many pretty pictures and long stories and ADS, tons of ads that it takes forever to get to the recipe? Well that is a huge pet peeve of mine lately so when I do find one I have tried and love, I try to remember to post it on my blog also giving credit to the original souce....but has anyone else noticed how hard it is to get just the recipe?

Well that is my 5 this week! Please play along, it's fun and easy! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others and make new friends! Have a great weekend :)

1)
The boys played Alleghany County on Thursday and won 44-0 (or something like that...I missed the last few minutes as I had to get food for the team back to the bus!) Braden is busting some Michael Jackson moves here ;)

2)
Lending a helping hand...

3)
Dalton Breese getting the tackle...

4)
Today is Homecoming...on Wednesday was the Powder Puff game. The senior girls vs 9th, 10th & 11th graders. Part of the fun is the boys acting like cheerleaders :)

5) I hope everyone stays safe from Hurricane Matthew...

1)
Remember that fountain I showed you last Friday? Well this is another part of it!

2) The boys and I just got home. They had a game in Spotswood which is about 2 hours from here. Nick couldn't make it, he would have had to leave work early but Ashlyn came with me so I wouldn't have to drive alone. The boys team won 44-12. Spotswood is just a few miles from Harrisonburg where Ashlyn attended JMU. Her best friend still goes there so she was able to come over and watch the game with us!

3)
Here is Dalton catching a kick return. That is Braden right there too. Dalton ran it down the field and scored a touchdown!

4)
Going over the play at the water cooler...Dalton 21 and Braden 15

5)
Another area of the fountain from #1...I know I just bounced around but I'm tired and can't think straight so off to bed I go!

That's my 5 this week and I hope you will play along too! Just post 5 randoms, link back and visit others! Have a great weekend!

Scrimmage

Friday was Braden and Dalton's first scrimmage as high school players!
Here Braden notices the pass was too long so he runs to catch it as it slips through his team mates hands...

It looks like he's trying to decide which way he should move...

Almost has it...
Dalton is #87 on the sidelines watching...

Awesome catch!

Look at the coach's expression!

It was such a hot and humid day on Friday and it's funny how the beginning of football season is so hot and by the end of the season we will be freezing!

A big scrimmage jamboree is scheduled for this Thursday where they play 2 other teams....then on to the real games in a couple of weeks!

JMU Homecoming Game Continued

Meanwhile inside the stadium:

Stocking up on some JMU merch...
Ashlyn ran into her friend Officer Conley...

Then she ran into her almost-brother-in-law (the brother of her boyfriend of more than 3 years) who is a Marching Royal Duke...

Got our seats and signs and we are ready!

More tomorrow!

Read Mountain Starz vs Central Academy Patriots @ Central Academy Middle School . Fincastle

Today, Thursday, these 2 guys had their last middle school football game. # 16 & 18. I was upset, showed up a half hour late. Game was supposed to start at 5. Got there and it had started at 4:30...some knew, most didn't. Our schedules said 5 but the lady at the gate taking our money said they changed it last month. Mass confusion....so anyways, Central Academy is our rival, same county. There's 2 middle schools here in Botetourt County, Read Mountain (us) and Central Academy (them)...we won, 26-0. Way to end the season. The boys have to ride the bus back to school as a team. I met them there. Braden came out after changing and I asked where Dalton was and Braden tells me he went to run 1 more hill, 1 last time....I was half sad about this momentous occasion (football game) but held it together but seeing him run a last hill with a few football buddies made me so sad. I have found that with these two boys, lasts truly are lasts. With Ashlyn and Christian I always knew I had two more to enjoy one more time with, but these 2 are my "one more time"...I'm feeling a bit sappy tonight so.....I'll take you through Braden and Dalton's football years for my Willy Nilly:

1)
This was in Georgia. We had just picked up their gear for their first year of football. The year is 2007. Obviously they were pretty pumped to try it all on!

2)
Same year as above but ready for a game! Our first team, Walton County Bengals!

3)
Our first team here in Virginia, The Bulldogs...2008

4)
We've been on the Panthers a few times so this might have been about 4th grade?

5)
Last year of rec football, 6th grade....next stop high school football....not a clue where the time has gone....so that's my randoms this go round...it's your turn! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others! Have fun and have a great weekend!!

If you still want to see more football pics, of these two little guys or Christian, just type "football" in the search bar up top, you might remember some of these!
