This is the
James River High School Band. James River is our rival school, we are Lord Botetourt, which by the way weren't in the parade for some reason, but still, even being the rival school, I went ahead and took their picture because I'm nice like that haha...Don't you love the sound of the band though?!
Superbe, il ne nous manque que le son
ReplyDeleteHow interesting! We do not have Christmas parades here in Moscow, actually, almost no parades at all. If you have time, can you explain: how is it organised? people volontier? how many people? very intresting!
ReplyDeleteHaven't hear a marching band in years! I like their simple but very handsome uniform.
ReplyDeleteThank you Olivier, Irina and Hilda :)
ReplyDeleteIrina, the participants enter the parade, some parades charge an entry fee, not sure if this one does. This parade judges the entries, on some of my photos, you will see a small paper plate with a number on it attached somewhere to the entry so that it can be judged. I don't know what they win and I don't know yet who won. The entries were floats put together by local churches, emergency vehicles, etc...the parade lasted about 40 minutes. Anyone can enter!
I like watching and listening to the Terrell band, but after 10 years hearing the same Christmas song every year gets stale.
ReplyDeleteGreat red plumes on their hats.. oh, and I like their red sashes too.
ReplyDeleteDi
The Blue Ridge Gal
They look so fine in their uniforms and the town looks nicely decked out, too, with its wreaths. But it looks a bit chilly.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun! I love a parade, but we had somewhere else we had to be...sigh. Maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteThey look great in any case! Love those uniforms.
ReplyDeleteI'm not aware of Christmas Parades here... but I'm not a big parade fan, so it's OK for me! Lol!
ReplyDeleteOf course I love the horses best.
ReplyDeleteSo it is a competition. Which adds interest for participants and for viewers, thank you Tanya for your time to explain!
