Rural Thursday # 32
Boone's Mill, Franklin Co, Va
Hmmmm nothing really to write home about this week. School is wearing us all out. I'm falling behind on laundry but that's nothing new. I'm looking forward to the long weekend so we can all sleep in! These early hours are doing me in. I started a new round of P90X after sitting dormant all summer. My arms are so sore that I can't extend them completely straight now, but that's a good sore lol...hope everyone is having a super week :)

Sunday Best on Monday #1
Boone's Mill, Franklin Co, Va
I don't blog on the weekends and I don't really care for the Monday meme's. Monday Murals is a fun one, but I live in a town that is mural-less so unless we go somewhere, I'm out of luck. I thought I'd start playing in Nancy's Sunday Best, but I'll do it on Monday....what the heck, I'm late to everything anyway ;)

Friday Fences
Giles County, Va
Any fun plans for the weekend? I think we might go to the high school football game tonight. Christian is already going with his friends and Braden and Dalton want to go. I really hope Ashlyn will be able to. For once she doesn't have to work on a Friday night but she agreed to babysit for a friend but she hasn't heard back yet. She'd really love to go to the game though and catch up with some old friends she hasn't seen since graduation.
Oh, and loved The Hunger Games. 2 of my boys have read the books but I haven't yet, but I really enjoyed the movie!
Have a great weekend!

Rural Thursday #31
Boone's Mill, Franklin County, Va
I took a few pictures in Boone's Mill a couple of weeks ago off some rural roads. Remember when I had to take Ozzy to try out that new kennel? This was taken the second day I had to take him. On this day, he was supposed to meet another worker but sadly that visit didn't go well. Ozzy growled at her and she became scared of him and so then he was banned from another kennel. Argh, less than a week before we were leaving for the beach. I had to do some quick planning. The owner of this kennel really liked Oz but of course couldn't let him stay when one of her workers were terrified of him. She did give me the number to a man who trains police dogs so I gave him a call and he referred me to a kennel, get this, right by my house lol. He said his friend took his very aggressive German Shepard there the week before and had no problems. So I made the phone call, told the woman about Ozzy's tendencies to growl at people and she didn't seem concerned in the least. Just made the reservation for him. The whole time on our trip I was worried that I'd get the phone call "come pick Ozzy up" but I didn't and then when we returned back home to get him, I was terrified to get the news "this dog can never, EVER come back" but we didn't! We actually got a good report on him, yay! Now Ozzy is a great dog, he's just not one of those that likes many other people, other than his family. I don't know if this is something we can train him out of or if this is just how he will be.
Anyways.....this area, where my picture was taken, is to be the setting that the new movie Lawless takes place. It's a movie about bootleggin' in Franklin County during the Depression Era. Franklin County is known as the "Moonshine Capital of the World". It sounds really good!
Oh, and today is my birthday :) No football practice today so I have reserved The Hunger Games from the Redbox and we'll grab some dinner out to bring home and have dinner and a movie. I'm really easy to please! I'm looking forward to it.
And all the kids had a good first day back at school yesterday. Braden and Dalton just love their new teacher and came running in the door when they got home telling me how "awesome" she is! They also got to eat suckers yesterday. I think that adds to her awesomeness!

Black & White Wednesday
Pier 14, Myrtle Beach, SC
First day of school here. I hear Ashlyn in her room getting ready for her first day of college classes. This is VERY early for her! Christian is going into 10th grade and Braden and Dalton into 5th. I like that school starts on a Wednesday. Only 3 days, then a weekend....breaks us all in slowly!

Rural Thursday Blog Hop #29
Tuesday night was the boy's first practice in full pads. It's the practice they all look forward to!
Summer is winding down. School starts on the 22nd. Not looking forward to busy schedules, quick breakfasts, lunch packing, chasing kids out the door to catch the school bus. I'm not ready for fall. I just love summer. I love having the kids home with me. I love letting them stay out late on warm summer nights playing with their friends. Well I guess all good things must come to an end. We do still have a little more summertime to enjoy and we are going to take full advantage of every second!

Barn Charm Tuesday
Great little antique shop inside an old barn...and NO, I can't believe I've never been inside...one of those places that I forget about until I am driving past it and don't have the time to stop. Yesterday, I did stop to take its picture but we had stuff we had to get done so I again, put a visit off for another day. This barn/antique store is on Lee Highway in Troutville.
Check out Barn Charm to visit barns from all over the world!

Monday Murals
This is not a mural per se but it is hand painted mural wallpaper from France. This is in the front parlor at Point of Honor. I've shown you the outside of Point of Honor here. I'll show you some more of the parlor and it's wall paper next week :)

Friday Fences
Taken along Glebe Road, Daleveille, Va
Yesterday after dropping Ozzy off at the new kennel for a couple of hours, Ashlyn and I went in search of lunch. We ended up at The Great 611 Steak Company. It was pretty good and we had a lot of fun laughing with each other, like we usually do. After lunch we had to head back over to the kennel and see how Ozzy did. I was so happy to hear that he fit in well and got along great with the other dogs. I've been in need of a good kennel for those times we want to get out of town!
The boys started football practice last night and it went pretty well. Now after a nice lazy summer we are back to a pretty busy routine with football practices 4 nights a week, but I do love it!
Christian just got his first job at our local Kroger. Tomorrow morning I take him in for training. He's pretty excited. Going to start saving all that money up for a car!

Rural Thursday Blog Hop #28
Today my baby Ashlyn turns 18! 18?!
We've got to take Ozzy out today to try a new kennel out. It's down in Boone's Mill, about a 40 minute drive so I was going to take her with me and take her out to lunch. I've got to drop Ozzy off for a couple of hours so the lady that runs the kennel can get to know Oz. It looks like a great place and she's experienced with larger dogs, such as Rottweilers, and trains so I really hope they get along!
After that, she will probably have plans to spend time with her boyfriend.
Braden and Dalton have football practice this evening. The first one was supposed to be last night but about a half hour before it was supposed to start, it stormed pretty bad. We all met up at our practice field anyway, hoping it would blow over. It didn't. Got worse and even hailed!

How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?

August Theme Day - Numbers
The theme that won the vote this month for the City Daily Photo Theme Day was "Numbers". This is 16 West Marketplace in downtown Roanoke. Housed inside of an old 1930's eatery, the marketplace is your one stop shop for fine dining, chiropractic, a gym and a grocery store with "European flair". I've got to go see that! There are also 8 apartments on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
To see more interpretations of this month's theme, visit here!
