Grandin Village . Roanoke
1) The last 2 weeks have been crazy busy! Ashlyn is moving out and we've been looking at apartments...there sure is a lot of junk out there...places that smell like 100 years of cigarette smoke, ick! We stopped looking at apartment buildings and started looking at old houses in the historic areas that have been made into apartments. Those seemed better with nice neighborhoods that she could walk her dog around and be close to downtown. Well yesterday after looking at a lot, and I do mean A LOT of junky, dirty places, we found it! It's a cute little 2 bedroom in the Old Southwest Neighborhood of Roanoke...she goes in and does her paperwork this morning...I hope she will be very happy there!
2) On Wednesday I took the boys to the movies. They wanted to see Cars 3 ...it was pretty cute! We laughed a lot, which is always good!
3) Have you heard of these "rock clubs"? Well the city that I am from, Santee has one and I've been following on Facebook. The objective is that you paint rocks, hide them around your city and then people find them and post a picture on Facebook in the group. It makes a lot of people happy and it looked like such fun so I created one for our county here. You can look at both groups to get an idea: Santee Rocks & Botetourt Rocks ...Botetourt Rocks is just a baby, started a couple of weeks ago so I hope it takes off! Maybe you might like to start a group where you live?
4) A new brewery just came to town, Ballast Point. They are from San Diego so it's kind of neat having a little bit of "back home" way out here! We went to check it out this week and tried their California Burrito. If you know us, you know that we miss our Mexican food and there's nothing like a Carne Asada Burrito from a SoCal taco shop! A "California Burrito" is a Carne Asada Burrito with French Fries inside...not my favorite, I prefer just a regular Carne Asada Burrito (no fries)...anyways, it was pretty good...not taco shop, this was more restaurant style and Nick and I both prefer taco shop style...we split it in half because we didn't have high expectations as to it being just like we are used to...and like I said, it was alright, well better than alright...it was pretty tasty and definitely better than any Mexican food here...but I wish it was a taco shop style and at $14 for 1 burrito, that is a bit high! We will be back though.
5) The Salem Fair is back in town...might take the boys tonight...I missed it last year because we had just gotten back from Mexico and I just felt so sick so Nick took the boys and dropped them off so they didn't miss out but I hated missing the fair!
That's my 5 this week! Hope you play along too! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others! Have a great weekend!
