It's All In The Details
Walking under the bridge @ the Roanoke Star (Mill Mountain Star)...one thing I've noticed since moving here is that Roanoke just loves to have several different names for a thing, especially street names...anywho....
I was drawn to these little pretties...
Now in B&W...Kind of looks like a pretty little cake with frosting dripping down :) Or maybe I'm just hungry!
“Everything made by human hands looks terrible under magnification--crude, rough, and asymmetrical. But in nature every bit of life is lovely. And the more magnification we use, the more details are brought out, perfectly formed, like endless sets of boxes within boxes.”

Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 62

This is the way the sky looked one morning this week as I was getting ready to head to school. Look at all those squiggly clouds!
Willy Nilly:
1) Sorry I didn't have this ready to go on time. Braden had a school assignment and was hogging my computer. By the time he was done, I was too sleepy!
2) Yesterday was so pretty...warm and 70...today is a brisk 54 and then dropping into the 40's over the weekend...yikes!
3) Thanksgiving is just around the corner...are you ready? I haven't shopped yet...better get busy!
4) Did you know the first Thanksgiving took place right here in Virginia? Read about it HERE
5) Berkeley Plantation
Well that's it for me this week....I hope you will play along! Post 5 randoms, link up and visit others! Have a great day!

Good Fences w/Stars

Taken from the Hit's Frozen Treats parking lot. We didn't get to have ice cream as they were closed but I used their parking lot to walk down the hill to the Roanoke River. I did like their fencing though around their patio!

A few photos from this week:
1) New Haven Church of Christ . Laymantown Road . Troutville
This little church looks old but I really can't find anything on it. It does however appear to still hold services as the sign said on Sundays at 10:30
2) Valley Road . Daleville

Harrisonburg
Since Tuesday was voting day, how 'bout some Willy Nilly flag quotes:
1) “The stars and stripes were fluttering bright against the rain, clear blue overhead, and their minds were saying the words before their ears heard them.”
― Laura Ingalls Wilder, Little House on the Prairie
2) “The American flag doesn't give her glory on a peaceful, calm day. It's when the winds pick up and become boisterous, do we see her strength. When she unfolds her hand, and shows her frayed fingers, where we see the stretch of red-blood lines of man that fought for this land. The purity of white stripes that strips our sins, and the stars of Abraham's covenant, broad in a midnight blue sky. The rights our forefathers established. As it waves high in the currents of freedom, where the Torch of Liberty shines over the sea, does she give meaning to unity. When we strive as one nation, or when it drops half-mast, to a fallen soldier.”
― Anthony Liccione
3) “Good women are no fun... The only good woman I can recall in history was Betsy Ross. And all she ever made was a flag.”
― Mae West
4) “Summertime, oh, summertime, pattern of life indelible, the fade-proof lake, the woods unshatterable, the pasture with the sweetfern and the juniper forever and ever . . . the cottages with their innocent and tranquil design, their tiny docks with the flagpole and the American flag floating against the white clouds in the blue sky, the little paths over the roots of the trees leading from camp to camp. This was the American family at play, escaping the city heat.”
― E.B. White
5) “Yonder are the Hessians. They were bought for seven pounds and tenpence a man. Are you worth more? Prove it. Tonight the American flag floats from yonder hill or Molly Stark sleeps a widow!”
― John Stark
Now it's your turn! Post 5 randoms, anything at all and link back here, visit others and have a great weekend!! Thanks for playing!
(Sorry I didn't get around to visit last week...it's been crazy around here!
