Buchanan

Heading to the mall shortly. Not for Black Friday shopping really but the boys need new basketball shoes. Practice starts Monday, yay! The mall shouldn't be too terribly bad. Then we'll grab some lunch. It's such a pretty day! Happy Friday!

Sunday Drive - Buchanan Home

Cruising along on Sunday's drive. This is the way my daughter Ashlyn gets to her boyfriend's house, also known as her second home. I didn't know of this backway and she was correct, it's my kind of road! I could live here, if only my kids wouldn't complain about changing schools ;)

Also, if you are interested in this sort of thing, want to share a little genealogy with you! My husband's ancestor, Daniel Cloud fought at The Alamo. A friend of mine was just there over the weekend and brought a pamphlet home to me with a quote from Daniel Cloud! You can see it HERE on my genealogy blog! How exciting!

Blue Monday - Decking The Halls In Fincastle

Waiting on the heavy rain that was heading our way Sunday, we decided to take a little Sunday drive before the weather turned. The sky looked intimidating but the weather was warm and we never saw a rain drop! Here we are passing through Fincastle and I noticed they are getting the town all Christmas'ed up! I love Fincastle during the Christmas season. I've shown you a photo HERE of the town all lit up at night...and that building there is the old jail, which I've shown you HERE...and looking back over the years, here's some shots of the Fincastle Christmas Parade: HERE...HERE...HERE...HERE...HERE...and HERE!

This is my first time to participate in the Blue Monday linky. I'm such a joiner! So if you want to see more stuff with blue, visit Blue Monday!

And last but not least...sending my thoughts and prayers to those affected by the tornadoes that hit on Sunday afternoon....

Random 5 Friday from Staunton

Looking at the town of Staunton from above the train station.

1) Staunton is one of my favorite towns. Love all that old architecture.

2) I can't stand when people brag. I wonder what is wrong with them that makes them need to do it.

3) Christian needed a new pair of shoes. Checked him out of school a little early yesterday so we could hit the mall. I love spending some one on one time with my kids. We had a good time. Laughed a lot.

4) Talk about laughing, watched The Heat last night. Melissa McCarthy is probably one of the funniest people ever. I just love her.

5) My yard has become the gathering place for every loose dog in the neighborhood. Don't know what's going on. Seems like everytime I take Ozzy out, there's another dog in the yard.

Signs, Signs - Zombie Outbreak Response Vehicle

Saw this little doozy a couple months back travelling down I81 south, Botetourt County. Maryland plates. Don't worry, I was taking photos as the passenger. My husband diligently caught up to and then passed so I could get a couple of pics!

So I was googling this vehicle wondering "what the heck?" and wow, lots and lots of Zombie Response Team stuff comes up...now I'm wondering "should I be worried?".....as I type this post, my boys are watching The Walking Dead lol

Friday Fences & Random 5's

Friday Fences

Randoms:

1) Yesterday our high school was on lockdown for a few hours because of a bomb threat. FBI even came out and searched the school and all the kids backpacks. I normally leave school at 1:30 but we all ended up having to stay till after 3 so I checked Christian out and we came home. It was a long day...you can read more HERE

2) On my way to pick up Christian from work last night I was listening to Oprah radio on Sirius and they were talking about the new lead singer for Journey, Arnel Pineda. He was raised in a house with little money then his mom died when he was only 13 and he ended up homeless...you can read the rest HERE...needless to say I was crying by the time I got to Kroger lol

3) Also on the way to pick up Christian last night, I saw a big, beautiful buck running in the grass at the elementary school. He was running back and forth under the light. He'd stop, then run a few steps the other way, then stop....hope he survives hunting season :( .....I saw this neat video the other day:

I got a deer..I wait a second

4) I'm getting a cold. My nose is stuffy and my throat hurts. I'm drinking Airborne and should be feeling better soon!

5) Tonight is the last high school football game. So far they are undefeated. Fingers crossed! It's going to be COLD out there tonight in the bleachers!

Have a great weekend!

Signs, Signs - Moon Fish @ Kroger

A few weeks ago when we were headed off to Mountain Lake Lodge for the day, we stopped here at Kroger in Daleville so Nick could run in and get some money from the ATM machine. While the boys and I waited in the car, I noticed Moon Fish on sale. I was thinking "hmmm, $19.99 a lb doesn't sound like that much of a sale...." but I don't think I've ever eaten Moon Fish before so maybe it is so delicious that it commands $19.99 per lb. Or maybe, it is hard to catch and therefore they charge $19.99 a lb, on sale! Well, whatever...I liked the colorful sign!

And here's my cute boys while we are waiting:
....gosh I love those 2! For some of you that don't know, those are my babies! Identical twin boys: Braden on the left and Dalton on the right. Their big brother Christian works inside that Kroger. In fact, he was there working and that is why he didn't go with us to the Lodge...sigh...

Also, notice how foggy it is here? Well that fog stayed for pretty much most of the day...see my other foggy Lodge photos HERE!

Rurality Wednesday - Piggies @ Booker T Washington

These little piggies were so cute and curious. They ran around their maze-like pen and even wanted to play ball. They made us laugh with their piggie antics :)

November Theme Day - Heights & Randoms

At last month's Go Outside Fest in Roanoke. The boys wanted to go on this but you had to be 12 and they are only 11. I did though hear that someone broke their arm on this the day before we went. I can see how that could happen if you land wrong.

See more takes on the theme by visiting City Daily Photo and have a great weekend!

Now on to some randomness:

1) Great night trick or treating last night. The weather was perfect! Didn't even need a jacket. I just wore a light sweater and the boys weren't cold in their thin morphsuits!

2) This morning though it is windy as all get out, and sprinkling, and WARM again!

3) No plans at all this weekend. That makes me happy! Last two weekends were crazy busy!

4) I bought The Conjuring on Vudu yesterday...can't wait to watch it!

5) Ozzy really digs these fall days!
