Tuesday's Treasures - Goochland

Springfield Baptist Church . circa 1882

This old church was in the way of developement and slated to be bulldozed until the Henrico County Historical Society saved it. It, along with the next 2 buildings were relocated to the Goochland Fairgrounds and are now part of the Field Day of the Past festival. This looks like a fun festival that I need to attend!

Circa 1930's

  6. That is a big event with thousands of people seeing how it used to be done. One year they had a neat shingle making machine that was steam powered as I remember.

  7. In the '60s when I went to college in Georgia I saw many gas stations that were like the Shell station...very southern! Thanks Tanya for sharing your Virginia treasures this week and hurry on back soon.
