Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 114

The old Norfolk and Western Railway Building . 108 No. Jefferson Street . Roanoke

Built in 1931 it now houses the Roanoke Higher Education Center

You can see the train was passing through when I snapped the picture...for more on the history of Norfolk and Western Click Here

I liked the little shadow of the tree on the white building :)

Now for Willy Nilly!

1) Ashlyn's team won! JMU won the FCS National Championship game! It was a pretty exciting game, we watched on TV...it was even more exciting for her to see it in person! Here's an article about it in the school newspaper which is called The Breeze...I always thought it was funny that it was called that since that is our last name! We pronounce it that way but it is spelled Breese...anyway...JMU played the Youngstown Ohio Penguins...if you were wondering what the sign meant!

2)
Here's a picture of Ashlyn getting ready to go into the game...she said it was so cold! Like 10 degrees! In Texas! Crazy....I stole this picture off her Facebook since I wasn't there to take one myself...I don't think she'll mind...I don't think she'll sue me ;)

3)
Ash and her friend spent Thursday through Monday in Dallas so they did a lot of sightseeing! This was the view of downtown Dallas from the Reunion Tower

4)
Another view from the evening...what a beautiful city! Thanks for the pictures Ashlyn ;)

5) Ok, leaving Texas now...closer to home...this was taken last January...(hitting the archives, need a roadtrip!)
A bunch of tall trees near the entrance of Sailor's Creek

That's my 5 this week and I hope you will join in too! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others! Have a great weekend :)

  1. The picture of downtown Dallas is gorgeous!! JMU played so well! What good luck that the train was passing when you took the picture! So is there a railway building at all now? Yes, I love the little tree shadow!

  2. The first photo with the tree shadow is very nice and I like the architekture...
Congrats to the win and glad to see photos of Dallas.
In 80ies they all were speaking about Dallas, it must been a TV-Show in West-German-TV and they all were looking a forbidden channel. Well, we had not TV at this time, I've never seen it, but always heard about....
    Enjoy your weekend

    A Breese-newspaper, that's cool!

  3. Dallas...well, as a Texan I should be proud of the city...but for me, it's a dirty city. Houston is prettier. LOL Love the night lights tho...and she looks cold.

Train station is cool. As is the 'forest of trees'

  9. Congratulations on the win. I was in Texas last week for their version of winter. It was freezing cold and snowing up in the Collinsville area. I lived in Dallas for 30+ years and miss it. Spent a lot of time in the building outlined in green. Miss Texas. Nice reminder.

  10. I love the photos of the city lights! We live in the country and our nights are dark and lit with stars. This is my first time here and I will be back. Thank you for hosting!

  11. Dallas is definitely a pretty city, but I hate to drive through there- traffic is crazy!

  12. Wonderful post Tanya. I honestly don't have Five this week I can share...and I plan to do a few memes over the weekend. I will be so glad when we aren't snowed in anymore! Loved your comment on my post last week. It looks like leaving the jeep in AZ wasn't a smart move. :-) It actually needs the 4-wheel drive fixed and that's one reason it was left behind. We also didn't have enough room on the truck for all our STUFF so had to leave some household goods too....plan to go back in late April. If we get snow tires it will help a lot (I too had thought chains, but looks like it's snow tires and 4-wheel drive!) :-) Congrats to Ashlyn's team. Love the photos! I can't wait to get out and about and explore our new state! I too loved that shadow of the tree on the wall. Very cool. Hope you have an awesome week....I'll post again next Friday!

  13. Thanks for reminding me about Dallas. Went there last year and only had one day to explore the city. We loved it in there! We need to go back and explore more of the city. #PhotoFriday
