Just down the road from Mountain Lake Lodge sits this covered bridge. Built in 1912 by Samuel Bradley to cross Sinking Creek. It was then called Bradley Bridge. It is on private proptery belonging to James Link Jr., Samuel Bradley's grandson. I love that it is still in the family! We were careful to observe the "Private Property No Trespassing" sign. Another car pulled in the same time as us. While the Mr. was setting up his camera gear to photograph the bridge, the little Mrs. hopped right over and walked along the creek smoking a cigarette. Some people!

It's a bright and terrific example of a covered bridge; I've never been on or near one of these.
ReplyDeleteDont see that around here. Looks like the family keeps it up good.

ReplyDeleteWas watching a documentary on the history of slavery on PBS last night and thought of you as much of it was shot in your area -- this is a gorgeous bridge. Imagine having it on your property to enjoy every day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shot and what a great bridge!
ReplyDeleteThis is an incredibly beautiful bridge and yes No Trespassing means nothing to a lot of people. B
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the red bridge along with the fall colors! So nice that it is still in the family.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand people who ignore no trespassing signs.

ReplyDeletewhat a pretty little thing!
This is such a neat covered bridge! I have heard there are a few in Missouri, but I haven't visited any yet. this makes me want to go soon!
ReplyDeleteI get as excited about seeing a covered bridge as I do of seeing a thatched cottage. Really excited :). Wonderful shot, Tanya.
ReplyDeleteTHAT is so cool and so lovely... I would be sorely tempted to get closer myself, but I always try to respect other people's property, especially when it is posted to keep out, you never know when it could be backed up by a shotgun! Thank you for coming by to share on Rurality Blog Hop #37!
ReplyDeleteOh, and thank you, Tanya, for coming by to share on Rurality Blog Hop #37!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bridge! You find such treasures there!
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty. I think they look especially pretty at this time of year. We live near a beach that allows dogs and you wouldn't believe how the owners behave. They are loud calling their dogs or on their cell phones and they even leave little bags of dog poop right on the beach even though they have to walk past a trash bag on the way out. I'm amazed at the rudeness of people.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty covered bridge...never see that around here. Some folks are just so rude!
ReplyDeleteCovered bridges are such a rarity that when we find them, it's always a treat. Good shot!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bridge and slice of rural America. Such a great capture! Some people are just rude, sheesh that's to bad...
ReplyDeleteI love the vibrant colors in your photo. I love covered bridges, and you don't see many these days.
ReplyDeleteLove the wonderful photo of the red covered bridge and all the fall colors ~ thanks, carol, xx

ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty little covered bridge. It looks much different from the ones I see in New England.
ReplyDeleteI love to see covered bridges. I wish there were more but I guess they are a bygone era.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful covered bridge! The autumn leaves and the red bridge make it a perfect photo.
ReplyDeleteMy sister had a covered bridge at her farm. It was out closer to the main road and she decorated it for Christmas every year. It was a delightful thing!
ReplyDeleteAwesome little bridge! Glad to see it's been maintained all this time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bridge this is. I have never before heard of Mountain Lake Lodge, but it does look as if it is a beautiful and unique place!
