Scenes from downtown Roanoke:
1)

2)
On Sunday after we were finished at the Go Outside Festival, we headed downtown for a late lunch at Texas Tavern...now we've eaten here quite a few times and I've shown you a few pictures but I have never taken a picture from across the street so I told my guys to stand in front while I snap a photo...
I zoomed in to get a closer look...and then when I got home and downloaded my pics I realized that I cut off the top of the building...the cute little curvy part that gives it that extra character and says "Texas Tavern"...now how did I miss that?...anyway...

3)
I was trying to go for a Beatles Abbey Road thing here but my people don't cooperate...

Isn't Roanoke a beautiful city? I just love downtown!

That's my 5 this week...I hope you will join in! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others! Have a great weekend!

This week has been a doozy...Christian's car broke down and while it was in the shop for a few days, I played Uber driver getting him to and from school and I just didn't have my normal morning routine...now that he has his car back I shall have my regular schedule again...knock wood!

  4. Now we know where to eat in Roanoke! The arch of trees is really neat and I can see lots of interesting old buildings.
Great highlights of your city and your guys!

  5. My people never cooperate for a picture either :(

  6. I do the same thing sometimes- you were focused on your guys! Oh well, you got the top of the building in the first shot. I love the Abbey Road shot! Roanoke looks like a really fun city!

  8. Always enjoy your trips around Roanoke. It is a beautiful city. Love the Texas Tavern. I think hole-in-the-walls are the best! Thanks for hosting!

  9. Great photos taken around Roanoke. The ones of your family in front of the tavern and on 'Abbey Road' made me smile. Thanks for hosting Tanya, and have a great weekend :)

  10. You are very fortunate to have such a nice downtown that you can actually walk around in and find things to do. Not many of those in this area. I've been in a lot of Texas taverns having lived there for years but none that looked like this and most of the customers were wearing cowboy hats and boots and sayin' "y'all come back now, ya hear?"

  12. I am way behind with everything...forgive me! Yes, an Abbey Road shot was in order...too bad you didn't get the cooperation! :-) Sorry you cut off the top of the building too. I always hate little snafus like that! Love Roanoke! By the way, I have been meaning to ask you if you have ever been to Black Dog Salvage? Or seen the show? We watch Salvage Dawgs faithfully! Love that troop of guys (and gal) and the things they find!!! They are so expensive though when they resell stuff. I know I could never afford them! It's a great show and is putting Roanoke more on the map.

  13. I love the brickwork on the first building, so unusual and pretty. I have never seen such a teeny tiny restaurant! How cute!

  14. Even as an attempted Abbey Road shot, it's a good take!

  15. Neat shots- love the "my people won't cooperate" comment...I feel ya! That restaurant looks neat, but so small- I'm guessing it must be narrow and long?

    1. No it is just as small....I think there are only 10 seats inside at the counter! When all 6 of us have gone it is hard to sit together!

  16. The skywalk is very attractive. Abbey Road model is a good idea to emulate; fun to try even if it didn't work out!

  19. I saw this little building last weekend while moving Katie to her new digs. We all remarked at its cute little presence and said we'd have to try it out this weekend. What a co-inkidink! Love your postings of Roanoke...it IS a beautiful little city. Katie loves living there, and excited to living downtown, although she's sad to leave Grandin where she's spent the last 3 years. Such a cool little enclave.

  20. Great photos and yes, Roanoke looks like a great city to visit. Ya know, when my people don't cooperate for photos I get very 'pissy' with them....so, you should start to get some attitude yourself and they'll learn. :) So, do they actually sell $1.40 burgers and dogs?

    1. Yes! They are slider size but I've never tried the hot dogs! Super yummy chili too!

  22. Nice photos of your area. The Texas Tavern does look small. Abbey road recreation was a very good try. It's good that everyone in your family has a good sense of humor and allows you to photograph them.
    Have a great week Tanya!

  23. Roanoke does look good through your lens Tanya.. I can't get over how much your boys have grown up over the last few years, very handsome young men!I think they did an excellent job of 'Abbey roading' 😀

  24. Some great shots Tanya. I really like the arched trees across the street & $1.40 for a hamburger, well who doesn't like that?
Assistant people can be so uncooperative. I once wanted my wife to go across the street late one foggy night & stand under a street light that looked eerie in the fog. She complained that it was too cold & wouldn't get changed out of her PJ's & get dressed to cooperate. She was even getting the opportunity to do it for FREE but no she had no modelling career aspirations. Unbelievable...
